The Motorola One Action is coming. This is a smartphone that has already leaked a fair amount, including recent, and what seemed to be official renders of the phone.
However, those renders arrived with the device painted in white. The original report did make it clear that the phone will launch in at least three colors (blue, gold and white) and here we have a clearer look at the blue version.
This looks very similar to the “Sapphire Gradient” color the Motorola One Vision (the phone the One Action is supposed to build off of) is available in, although it remains to be seen if that is what the color will be branded as at launch. For example, it appears to be a little darker than the One Vision’s Sapphire Gradient and Android Headlines have heard it might arrive branded as “Denim Gray.”
Besides showing what looks to be a nicer color option, this latest official render also provides a bit more of a closer look at that rear camera setup.
This is arguably one of the big selling points with the phone as unlike the One Vision, the One Action comes loaded with three rear cameras, including an “Action Cam” with a 117-degree field of view. In other words, this phone will come with a wide-angle lens and that will be the basis for the “Action” branding with this device.
The finer details on the rear camera setup remain unknown at the moment but it is believed the rear camera trio will be spearheaded by a 12.6-megapixel sensor.
Moving to the front of the device, and as previously reported, the One Action is part of the new wave of phones that come equipped with a hole punch.
The hole appears in the top-left corner of the screen and based on this image looks to be almost identical to the one included with the One Vision. Which seems to be a common design theme as there does not appear to be many design differences between the One Vision and the One Action, besides the triple camera configuration.
Like the primary rear camera, the camera on the front is also understood to utilize a 12.6-megapixel sensor.
A couple of points to note. Firstly, the front render shown here, and in the previous leak, is an almost direct copy of the lock screen shown on official One Vision renders and therefore it is likely to be a placeholder. Due to this, it is slightly difficult to draw any further or more detailed conclusions based on the front render alone. Secondly, branding on the phone in the previous leak indicated this will arrive as an Android One phone. That’s not reconfirmed with these latest images due to the angles shown.
What is visible is a USB Type-C port on the bottom, although unlike the previous leaked render, this one also highlights the headphone jack on the top – the headphone port was not visible on the previous leaked images and therefore had not been confirmed as of yet.
Most of the core specs for this phone have also recently been leaked and according to those reports, the Motorola One Action will likely sport a 6.3-inch display along with a 21:9 aspect ratio and a 2520 x 1080 resolution.
Apparently, the One Action will be available in both 3 and 4GB RAM variants along with the option of choosing between 32, 64 and 128GB storage amounts.
Regardless of which RAM and storage options chosen, the One Action is expected to come powered by Samsung’s Exynos 9609 SoC along with a 3,500 mAh capacity battery.
Just like the design, this is an almost identical spec list to the One Vision and so consumers should not be expected a wildly different phone considering the One Action is being built up to be a One Vision with three cameras.
What is likely to be of interest to consumers, however, is that in spite of the extra rear camera, the One Action is expected to arrive to market at a more affordable price point than the One Vision.
How much more affordable is another question entirely, and especially considering the vast overlap in design, specs and features.
