The biggest names in AR and VR technologies converge once a year on San Jose for the annual Oculus Connect conference. Facebook has just announced that registrations are open for Oculus Connect 6, which will be taking place on September 25 and 26, 2019. Oculus holds this conference as a way to connect journalists and developers alike while both announcing new products and services and educating developers on the latest strategies to better develop for the future of AR and VR technologies.
Not too long ago, Oculus teased that they would be ‘beginning a new chapter in AR/VR’ at Oculus Connect 6. While it’s not expected that Oculus will be debuting any big new hardware at the show, it’s entirely possible that they’ll be teasing the next-generation of VR headsets that are in development. The first generation era is officially over according to Oculus, after all.
We do know plenty of content that’ll be shown off at the show, however, including a brand new AAA-quality first-person combat title developed by Respawn Entertainment in partnership with Oculus Studios. That includes the first hands-on playable demo of the game as well, which is pretty darn exciting given that Respawn Entertainment is the same studio that’s responsible for blockbuster titles like Titanfall, Apex Legends, and the upcoming Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order.
That’s in addition to other new titles that could very well be a surprise, from the rumored Splinter Cell and Assassin’s Creed games for Oculus, to any number of Oculus-developed or partner-developed titles like Lone Echo II. We’re also expecting to see more on Star Wars: Vader Immortal – Episode II at the show, especially since Episode I was announced at last year’s Oculus Connect 5, and ILMxLAB debuted the first teasers at the San Diego Comic-Con last week.
John Carmack will, of course, be making an appearance and is going to bring back John Carmack’s App Reviews with him. Facebook also took the time to detail some of the available sessions, which can be individually signed up for when registering as a developer for Oculus Connect 6:
