There are quite a few differences between the two, and we’ll try to help you decide which one to get. We’ll compare the two phones across a number of categories, including design, display, battery life, and so on. This is our usual way of doing things, so if you’re interested, read on.

Design

The Huawei P30 Pro and Galaxy Note 10+ may look similar at first, but they’re quite different. The two phones feel different in hand, and there are some notable design-related differences. First and foremost, do note that the Huawei P30 Pro is a considerably smaller device.

The Huawei P30 Pro is shorter, narrower, and thicker. The two phones do weight the same, almost, there’s a four-gram difference between them. The Galaxy Note 10+ comes with sharper corners, and is less curved on the back. The Galaxy Note 10+ is also more slippery than the Huawei P30 Pro.

The Huawei P30 Pro is easier to handle in one hand, as it’s considerably more narrow, and it’s also shorter. Huawei’s flagship includes a tiny notch at the top of the display, while the Galaxy Note 10+ opted for a display hole in that very same place.

The Galaxy Note 10+ has a slightly thinner “chin” below the display, while bezels on both phones are extremely thin. Both phones feature curved displays, and include a similar-looking camera setup on the back. Their cameras are different, though, we’ll talk more about that later.

Both phones are extremely appealing, and well built. Your personal preference will decide here, as they’re on par in this category, that’s for sure.

Display

Huawei opted to include a fullHD+ panel on the P30 Pro, which managed to surprise many people. Samsung, on the other hand, included a QHD+ unit on the Galaxy Note 10+. Both of these displays are curved, and both are of OLED technology. The P30 Pro features a 6.47-inch fullHD+ OLED panel. The Galaxy Note 10+, on the other hand, comes with a 6.8-inch QHD+ Dynamic AMOLED display.

The Huawei P30 Pro features a different aspect ratio, 19.5:9, compared to the Galaxy Note 10+’s 19:9 ratio. The Galaxy Note 10+ is protected by the Gorilla Glass 6, while the P30 comes with either Gorilla Glass 5 or 6.

The P30 Pro supports HDR10 output, while the Galaxy Note 10+ ups that to HDR10+. The Galaxy Note 10+’s display is sharper, and one of the best ones around at the moment. It simply has more of a wow factor to it than the P30 Pro’s, as the difference in quality is visible side-by-side. The Galaxy Note 10+ wins this comparison.

Performance

The Huawei P30 Pro and Galaxy Note 10+ are both flagship-grade phones. That being said, you’d expect flagship-grade performance out of them, right? Well, that’s exactly what you’ll get, as these two are amongst the best performers out there.

There is not a game in the Play Store that these two cannot run with ease. The two also excel in day-to-day tasks as well, like switching between apps, opening and closing apps, and using various other aspects of their software.

Both phones may have a hiccup from time to time, which is perfectly normal, and nothing to worry about. The Huawei P30 Pro comes with the Kirin 980 SoC and 6GB / 8GB of RAM. The Galaxy Note 10+ is fueled by the Snapdragon 855 / Exynos 9825, and it includes 12GB of RAM on the inside. As far as we are concerned, the two phones are equal in this category, they’re both great performers.

Battery life

The Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ offers respectable battery life. We’ve managed to get 5-6 hours of screen-on-time out of the device, constantly. That’s not bad for today’s standards, at all, but it cannot compare to the Huawei P30 Pro.

The Huawei P30 Pro is one of the best-performing flagships in this regard. The phone can often go beyond the 7-hour mark in terms of screen-on-time. The fact that it has a fullHD+ display probably helps, as its battery is only 100mAh smaller in capacity compared to what the Galaxy Note 10+ has to offer.

The Huawei P30 Pro comes with a 4,200mAh unit, while the Galaxy Note 10+ offers a 4,300mAh battery. The Galaxy Note 10+ does include a sharper display, and a larger one at that.

You can improve the P30 Pro’s battery life even further by playing with its power-saving options. The Galaxy Note 10+ also has such options, though not as many. Messing with such settings may affect push notifications on both devices, though, so you need to be careful.

Both phones offer fast charging. The P30 Pro offers 40W wired charging, while the Galaxy Note 10+ comes with 25W wired charging (though it supports 45W with separate charger). 15W fast wireless charging is possible on the Huawei P30 Pro, while the Galaxy Note 10+ supports 20W wireless charging. Both devices come with a reverse wireless charging option as well.

Winner: Huawei P30 Pro

Cameras

So, what about camera performance? Are these two any good at it? Well, the short answer is, yes. Both phones are quite compelling in that category. The Huawei P30 Pro is still considered to be amongst the best camera smartphones, and the Galaxy Note 10+ is like the Galaxy S10+ on steroids in that department.

The Galaxy Note 10+’s camera hardware does not differ that much from what the Galaxy S10+ has to offer, even though there are some improvements. The main difference lies in the software, as the Galaxy Note 10+ improved things in pretty much every way. Low light shots now have less noise, while pictures in regular light offer better balance and dynamic range.

The Huawei P30 Pro is still one of the top performers in low light. Pictures it can provide in regular light are amongst the best out there, and its crazy zoom capability is unrivaled. The Huawei P30 Pro features a periscope-like camera which can zoom in objects far, far away, and it actually does a good job at it.

Each of these two cameras has its benefits, and both are extremely capable in pretty much all situations. These two phones are amongst the top 5 camera smartphones in the market, that’s for sure.

Audio

The Huawei P30 Pro comes with a single speaker, which is kind of disappointing. The Galaxy Note 10+, on the other hand, offers stereo speakers. Neither of these two phones has a 3.5mm audio jack, though, unfortunately.

The Huawei P30 Pro’s single speaker is loud enough, but the Galaxy Note 10+’s setup blows it out of the water. Both phones support Dolby Atmos sound, and are capable of reproducing 32-bit/384kHz audio.

The Galaxy Note 10+’s speakers are also tuned by AKG. Both phones sound really good through a pair of quality headphones. The sound is tuned differently, but they’re almost equally good in that department. We liked the Galaxy Note 10+’s output a bit better, though.

S Pen & Conclusion

Samsung Galaxy Note 10 Plus Review AM AH 1 4

Comparing the Huawei P30 Pro vs Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ is not an easy task. Both are great phones aimed at different types of consumers. The Galaxy Note 10+ comes with the S Pen stylus, of course. We haven’t really mentioned it sooner as there’s nothing to compare it with. The Huawei P30 Pro does not offer a stylus, so if you’re in need of it, the Galaxy Note 10+ is a clear choice for you. The S Pen does offer a number of old tricks presented in recent years, and some new ones, including some air gestures. You can read more about that in our full review.

Both the Huawei P30 Pro and Galaxy Note 10+ are great phones, there’s no doubt about it. The Galaxy Note 10+ does win this comparison by a narrow margin, but it may not be suitable for you. If you prefer a smaller phone, don’t intend on using a stylus, and prefer the design of the P30 Pro in general… you should go for it. The Galaxy Note 10+ is also more expensive now, as it’s brand new, so you can even save some cash with the P30 Pro. In any case, this brings our Huawei P30 Pro vs Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ comparison to an end.
