YouTube TV is now available on Amazon’s Fire TV devices.
The YouTube TV app can now be downloaded on most, but not all of Amazon’s hardware devices.

For a long time, Amazon and Google appeared to be doing all they could to limit the availability of each other’s products and services. For example, Google stopped officially supporting YouTube on Amazon’s devices while Amazon stopped selling Google streaming products, including Chromecast, via its online retail store.
This all changed in July, however, when both companies announced a truce.
The announcement confirmed YouTube was returning to Amazon’s video platforms. At the same time, Amazon announced Prime Video was coming to Android TV.
The original announcement also made it clear YouTube TV support would be extended to Amazon’s hardware as well. That’s now what has happened today.
Getting started with YouTube TV on Fire OS
Fire TV OS users looking to get started with YouTube TV will first need to make sure their device is supported.
Right now, Amazon has confirmed the YouTube TV app can be downloaded on the following devices: Fire TV (2nd and 3rd Gen), Fire TV Stick (2nd Gen), Fire TV Stick 4K, and Fire TV Cube (1st and 2nd Gen). This is in addition to Toshiba, Insignia, Element, and Westinghouse Fire TV Edition smart TVs.
Amazon has confirmed the YouTube TV app is not compatible with either the first-generation Fire TV or Fire TV Stick.
The app itself is now available to download directly from the web version of the Amazon app store and sent to supported devices. Alternatively, users should also now be able to download the app directly from the device’s app store.
Those new to this live TV streaming service will also need to set up a subscription. YouTube TV provides access to more than 70 live TV channels at a cost of $49.99 per month. There’s also the option of adding premium networks to a subscription at an additional monthly cost per network.
YouTube TV also comes with some notably enhancements and features. Unlike most other live TV streaming services, YouTube TV offers unlimited cloud DVR – although recordings do expire after nine months. Likewise, YouTube TV also offers up to six different user accounts per main account. Each user account is completely personalized and this includes the cloud DVR experience.
