Huawei announced its brand new flagship SoC at IFA 2019, the Kirin 990. It didn’t take long for HONOR’s Global PR lead to confirm the very first phone that will ship with this processor. According to Bhavya, the HONOR Vera30 series will be first to feature that SoC.
HONOR Vera30 series launching in China in Q4
HONOR’s Global PR lead went to Twitter in order to reveal this info. She also pointed out that the phone will be available in China in Q4 2019. In her tweet, she also mentioned that it will support dual-mode 5G.
This more or less confirms that the phone will include 5G connectivity option. Considering that Kirin 990 does not require an external modem in order to support 5G, it is possible that we won’t see a separate 4G option of the Vera30.
HONOR may opt to introduce one variant that supports both 4G and 5G, thanks to Kirin 990. As a reminder, the Snapdragon 855 and Snapdragon 855 Plus do require the Snapdragon X50 modem for 5G. If that (separate) modem is not included, 4G is the only option.
Now, regarding the HONOR Vera30 series. If that name doesn’t ring a bell, it’s for a good reason. Pretty much everyone expected the HONOR View30 to appear at the end of this year.
HONOR’s “View” series getting rebranded to “Vera”?
Well, our best guess is, HONOR is renaming the “View” series. The HONOR View30 was expected to be a flagship phone, and this Vera30 phone will also be a flagship phone. It’s unrealistic to expect both to launch, so we’re guessing it’s the same phone.
The source clearly mentioned the “HONOR Vera30 series”, which means we may see more than one Vera30 device. Not necessarily, of course, but it’s a possibility.
Considering that this is the first time we’re hearing about this phone, we don’t really know what to expect. We do know that it will have flagship-grade specs, and Kirin 990, but that’s pretty much it.
This phone may resemble the HONOR View20, though. HONOR had released several phone with display camera holes, and the HONOR Vera30 will probably include one as well.
The HONOR 20 series included such display holes as well. On the other hand, HONOR may opt to change things up with the HONOR Vera30 series. The company may opt to include a pop-up camera, though that’s not as likely.
This smartphone will include at least 6GB of RAM on the inside, if not more. More than one variant is a possibility, of course. Android 10 is expected to come pre-installed on the phone, along with Huawei’s Emotion UI skin.
This phone will probably be made out of metal and glass. The HONOR Vera30 will include a large display. We don’t know how large will it be, but it will probably measure at least 6.4 inches in diagonal.
