The alleged Sony Xperia 3 has been spotted on Geekbench. This listing has shared some spec information when it comes to this phone, but not much.
The Sony Xperia 3 has appeared on Geekbench under the ‘PM-1310’, which may seem odd. Well, it is, but that device has been spotted in a list of supported devices hosted on SonyMobile. The Xperia 1 is marked as ‘PM-122X’, so it makes sense, kind of. This is a naming scheme that Sony uses internally, obviously.
In any case, this phone has been listed with a ‘Kona’ motherboard. That is the codename of the Snapdragon 865 processor, which more or less confirms that chip for this phone.
Geekbench listing claims that the Xperia 3 will include 12GB of RAM & run Android 10
This device will run Android 10, claims Geekbench. The sour shared yet another interesting tidbit here. The Xperia 3 could ship with 12GB of RAM, if this listing is legit.
The name ‘Xperia 3’ hasn’t been mentioned here, at all. That is the expected Sony-branded flagship, though, so we’re presuming that is the device we’re looking at here. The name hasn’t been confirmed yet at all, but it’s quite possible that’s the name Sony will use.
Now, if you take a look at the second screenshot down below, you’ll notice that there are four versions of the device. The most expensive variant will support 5G connectivity.
Rumors are claiming that Sony may go back to a curved back design with this phone. The device is expected to include a large QHD+ display, and a 21:9 aspect ratio.
Some rumors, that surfaced a while back, claimed that the phone will include six cameras on the back. A rather sketchy leak even claimed that we’ll see 48, 20, 16, 12, 8, and 0.5-megapixel cameras on the back of the device. That leak was sketchy, as already mentioned, so take that with a grain of salt.
The device will probably launch in Q1 2020
The device will ship with Android 10 when it arrives, and Sony is expected to announce it in the first quarter of 2020. The phone will probably arrive in February, but we’ll see.
The Xperia 3 will probably be made out of metal and glass. Chances are it will not include a display camera hole, or a display notch.
The device is expected to take a step forward in terms of camera quality. The Xperia 1 and 5 are quite capable in that regard, but not as capable as people would have liked.
Sony’s Alpha camera team has been called to improve cameras on Sony’s smartphones, and they did that with the Xperia 1, but not that much. The Xperia 3 will, hopefully, be a contender for the best camera phone in 2020.
