ASUS launched its Chromebook Flip C436 at CES 2020 earlier this month and now the device is up for pre-order on Amazon. That’s according to recent reports stemming from readers over at Chrome Unboxed. The listings fill in quite a few details but, more importantly, outline the overall cost of the gadgets. That’s in addition to when they’ll become available.

There are two variants available, as of this writing, leaving the top model distinctly absent. The ‘entry’ level model starts at $799. That places it, as its specs do, clearly in the upper-midrange for a Chromebook. Another model, priced at $999, is also listed.

Both devices shown at Amazon are available for pre-order starting from today. They’re listed as being set to ship on February 24 in both cases.

ASUS Chromebook Flip C436 made a bleeding-edge splash at CES

Of particular interest here are the specs for the less-pricey models of the Chromebook Flip C436 that are now up for pre-order. At the gadget’s CES announcement, ASUS only outlined the specifications for the top model.

Each device ships with a Full HD 1920 x 1080 display panel in a 14-inch NanoEdge display frame. Each ship with an Intel UHD Graphics chip on that side of the equation, as well as Dual-band Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) and Bluetooth 5.0 on the connectivity side of things.

The external shell is comprised of a backlit full-size keyboard, jammed into a 2.4 lbs magnesium alloy metal chassis with a 13-inch diagonal measurement. That’s also right around 13.7mm thin. Universal stylus support with up to 4,096 pressure-level sensitivity is also universal across the range.

But this device is supposed to be available with up to the same specs as the second most expensive variant now on sale. The chief difference is that it’s supposed to ship with up to a 10th-Gen Intel Core i7-10510U processor. Neither of the new devices features that.

Instead, the more expensive of the newer devices ships with a 10th-Gen Intel Core i5-10210U processor. ASUS packed 16GB of LPDDR3 RAM and 512GB of NVMe storage behind that. That’s the same specs found in the most expensive variant, although some reports indicate it will feature a 4K display panel. The biggest difference will likely be that device utilizing a 10th-Gen Intel Core i7-10510U processor.

The less-pricey entry model of the two ASUS Chromebook Flip C436 now up for sale on pre-order features half the RAM, 128GB NVMe storage, and an Intel Core i3-10110U inside.

Each model will, of course, ship with Chrome OS as the operating system.

This comes in two colors too

Now, ASUS also announced that there would be two colors made available for its Chromebook Flip C436 at launch. That appears to hold true here but each pre-order gadget is only available in one of the two colors. The cheaper Intel Core i3 model is being shipped in a Transparent Silver coloration.

The more expensive $999 model on Amazon comes in a fancier color, which will likely be used for the top model when that releases. Namely, that’s a white hue the company has taken to calling Aerogel White. The color is ceramic-like and nearly iridescent — shimmering at the edges with a spectrum of colors in the images shown at the listing.
