The Galaxy Z Flip is reportedly has a launch date of February 14. That would be just three days after Samsung announces it at Unpacked in San Francisco.
That’s a pretty big turnaround for Samsung, but not impossible.
The Galaxy S20 series is also slated to be available starting the first Friday in March. That translates to March 6.
This information comes from Max Weinbach who has been pretty spot on so far, with many Samsung leaks and rumors over the past month. So it’s still important to take this with a grain of salt, but it’s likely true.
Galaxy Z Flip will start at $1400
The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip is reportedly going to start at $1400. Which would put it just below the Motorola razr that is supposed to be launching the same day.
That’s also a pretty good price drop compared to the Galaxy Fold. Now the Galaxy Z Flip is supposed to be cheaper than the Galaxy Fold anyways, as it does have a smaller display, and it’s using slightly older internals. Like a Snapdragon 855+ instead of a Snapdragon 865 chipset.
And at $1400, it might just be the cheapest foldable yet.
Galaxy S20 Ultra will cost you $1300
We’ve also heard about pricing on the Galaxy S20 Ultra, and as expected, it’s pretty pricey. The Galaxy S20 Ultra is going to cost you $1300, reportedly. That would make it Samsung’s most expensive smartphone that isn’t a foldable. The Galaxy Note 10+ was only $1099, so this is a good $200 more expensive.
However, with the specs we had been hearing about the Galaxy S20 Ultra, this price is not a big surprise. The Galaxy S20 Ultra is an absolute powerhouse. With a massive 5000mAh capacity display, five cameras on the backside, including that 100X zoom camera and much more. It’s the best of everything that Samsung has right now. So to see it at $1300 is sad but not a surprise.
Smartphones are continuing to rise in price, and we likely won’t see them dropping anytime soon. It won’t be long before a mainstream smartphone hits $2,000. The Galaxy Fold came close, but we wouldn’t call that a “mainstream” phone, since not that many were made and it was definitely a niche product.
The new Galaxy Buds+ are also going to cost you $149. Luckily Samsung is planning to offer these as a pre-order bonus on the Galaxy S20+ and S20 Ultra. Battery life is also about double what the Galaxy Buds were.
But on the bright side, at least these smartphones are lasting longer so we don’t need to replace them every couple of years. We’ll find out more, come February 11 when Samsung announces these devices at Unpacked.
