This is an exclusive look at the new Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8.4 (2020) that the company is preparing to release very soon.

As expected by the name of the device, this is a mid-range tablet.

The Galaxy Tab A 8.4 (2020) does appear to have some fairly small bezels, though still not quite as small as the new Galaxy S20 lineup. With tablets, you do still need some form of bezel so you can hold onto the thing. It also appears to be an aluminum unibody, with a slight camera bump on the back.

There are only two buttons, a power button and the volume rocker. The power button is likely to be a Bixby button as well, similar to what we’ve seen on Samsung’s smartphones recently.

Mid-range tablet coming with mid-range specs

While we don’t have any confirmed specs on the Galaxy Tab A 8.4 (2020) just yet, the Google Play Console has given us some idea of what the specs of this one might be.

It will sport a 8.4-inch 1920×1200 resolution display, powered by the Exynos 7904 chipset. This is an octa-core chipset, and it will be paired with 3GB of RAM. No word on storage just yet, but it’s likely that the Galaxy Tab A 8.4 (2020) will sport around 64GB of storage with a micro SD card slot included.

What’s puzzling though, is that the Google Play Console lists the Galaxy Tab A 8.4 (2020) as running on Android 9 Pie, instead of Android 10. It’s likely that Samsung was testing it on Android 9 Pie and that it will be updated to Android 10 before release, so take that with a pinch of salt.

When will the Galaxy Tab A 8.4 (2020) be available?

We don’t yet know when the Galaxy Tab A 8.4 (2020) is going to be made available. But considering it is showing up in the Google Play Console, and the fact that we are now seeing more leaks for this tablet, it is likely very soon.

Samsung doesn’t typically launch the Galaxy Tab A tablets at a big Unpacked event – heck even the much more expensive Galaxy Tab S tablets don’t get announced then. So it’s possible that Samsung could decide to drop a press release one day, announcing the Galaxy Tab A 8.4 (2020).

Depending on the price, which we still don’t know yet, the Galaxy Tab A 8.4 (2020) could end up being a pretty darn good tablet. While it’s not a super high-end tablet, it does still do the basics and will be great for watching content like Netflix and YouTube.
