In addition to announcing the Xperia 1 II today, Sony also introduced the Xperia PRO. The Sony Xperia PRO is also a flagship smartphone, just like the Xperia 1 II. This phone supports 5G, while it comes with slightly different specs, and design compared to its sibling.

The Sony Xperia PRO comes with 4-way 5G mmWave antenna system

We’ve been expecting the arrival of the Xperia 1 II today, but the Xperia PRO is a surprise. This handset comes with 4-way 5G mmWave antenna system, and supports 5G connectivity. The phone also supports sub6, by the way.

This handset does share a lot of its specifications with the Xperia 1 II, and also resembles it a bit in terms of the design. Unlike the Xperia 1 II, however, this smartphone does not include a glass back. It is made out of metal.

The main selling point of this smartphone are its 360-degree broadcast capabilities. The phone is also envisioned to be a monitoring device. It comes with an HDMI input, and it can be used as a display for content creation (secondary display for cameras).

This handset does include the same display processor, cameras, RAM, and battery as the Xperia 1 II. The phone also includes a physical camera shutter on the right, and a side-facing fingerprint scanner.

Unlike its sibling, however, this smartphone sports 512GB of internal storage. The Xperia 1 II comes with 256GB of internal storage. Other than what we’ve mentioned, the two phones are basically the same on the inside.

The device features a 6.5-inch 4K OLED display, 8GB of RAM and 512GB of storage

Just like its siblings, the Xperia PRO features a 6.5-inch 4K OLED display with 21:9 aspect ratio. It comes with ‘Motion Blur Reduction’, which Sony claims has the same effect as a 90Hz display.

The Snapdragon 865 fuels the Xperia PRO, while the device sports 8GB of RAM. A 4,000mAh battery is included inside of this phone, and it supports fast wired and wireless charging.

This smartphone also includes a 3.5mm headphone jack, just like the Xperia 1 II. The phone will ship with Android 10, and Sony’s custom UI on top of it, of course.

Three 12-megapixel cameras can be found on the back of this smartphone (16mm, 24mm, and 70mm lenses), while a single 8-megapixel camera sits on the front side. It is also worth noting that a ToF (Time-of-Flight) camera is placed on the back of the device.

The device comes with IP65/68 certifications for water and dust resistance. This phone has been announced in a black color variant, and we don’t know if any other colors will become available.

Sony did not share any information on the phone’s availability. We do not know when will it go on sale nor how much will it cost. This video creators-focused smartphone is still in development, so it may take some time for it to come to the market.
