According to a new report from Korea, relayed by Max Weinbach, a 5G variant of the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip is coming later this year. It will allegedly launch in August or September.

The report claims that the phone will arrive around the same time as the Galaxy Note20, Fold 2, and high-end Galaxy Watch. Those three devices may even launch at the same time.

The Galaxy Note20, and Fold 2, in specific, were rumored to launch together. That is easily possible, as the original Galaxy Fold arrived alongside the Galaxy S10 last year.

It remains to be seen if the current health crisis in the world will affect Samsung’s launch dates. There’s always a chance that may happen, so nothing is set in stone just yet.

5G variant of the Galaxy Z Flip is coming

In any case, the report not only mentions that a 5G variant of the Galaxy Z Flip is coming, but it also mentions some new colors for the device. Dark Gray, and Copper Brown colors are on the way.

Do note that these colors will be exclusive to the 5G variant, at least based on this report. As a reminder, the Galaxy Z Flip is currently available in four variants. Those variants are Mirror Black, Mirror Purple, Mirror Gold, and a special edition Thom Browne Edition.

The 5G variant of this smartphone will probably be the same as the 4G one, aside from the Snapdragon X50/X55 model for 5G connectivity. There may be a slight weight difference, and perhaps the phone may end up being 0.1mm thicker, notes the report.

The device was initially announced back in February

The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip was announced back in February this year, alongside the Galaxy S20 series. The phone managed to get a lot of attention from both the media and users.

The Galaxy Z Flip is Samsung’s first clamshell foldable. It folds vertically, right down the middle. This is basically a smartphone that folds, not a tablet that folds into a smartphone form.

The device is made out of metal and glass, it has rather thin bezels, and a display camera hole. It also has a tiny display on the back.

The phone is fueled by the Snapdragon 855+, and that’s probably the same SoC that will be included inside the 5G model. There’s always a chance Samsung may upgrade to the Snapdragon 865.

This handset features a 6.7-inch fullHD+ main display, and a 1.1-inch secondary display. It has a lot more to offer, and if you’d like to take a closer look at the phone’s specifications, click here.
