The ASUS ROG Phone III has gone through certification at Chinese regulatory body TENAA, and the certification claims there’s a model with up to 16GB of RAM.

There are also ROG Phone III models listed with 8GB and 12GB of RAM. Which would match up with the amounts of memory on the ROG Phone II. ASUS’ current gaming phone model.

In addition to the memory, various other specs are listed for the upcoming device, including internal storage space and the Android version that the phone is likely to be shipped with.

A ROG Phone III with 16GB of RAM is likely to be pretty expensive

16GB is a lot for RAM on a phone. Probably more so than anyone needs. Even with how advanced smartphone gaming has become.

A ROG Phone III with this much memory would also be very expensive. The 12GB RAM model of the ROG Phone II was close to $1,000. And there’s no doubt that bumping that up to 16GB would also probably mean having the higher amount of storage space.

According to the certification there will be options for 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB. If these specs are accurate, consumers shouldn’t expect the ROG Phone III to be any less than $900. Of course, a true picture of the price tag won’t be clear until ASUS officially announces the phone.

At which point it may also reveal the launch date and cost of all available models. Then again it may not. Choosing to hold off pricing until a later date.

The first potential look at the final design

TENAA certifications are generally good for more than just specifications. While they do usually list some of these details, they also tend to have images of the device.

This is true with the ROG Phone III as well. The images below show off what might be the first visual of what the final design of the ROG Phone III is like. Judging by the pictures, ASUS doesn’t appear to have changed the overall design too much.

The phone still carries a glossy back, and features the iconic ROG logo directly in the center. This is likely to house the LED lights that can be found on the ROG Phone II. One big difference is there now seems to be three camera sensors instead of two, making the rear camera array larger.

The camera array also now protrudes a little bit here. Whereas it was entirely flat and flush with the back of the phone on the ROG Phone II. Additional specs rumored to be on the device include the Snapdragon 865 Plus, 5G support, a 6.59-inch display, dual front-facing speakers, and a 6,000mAh-capacity battery.
