Samsung Galaxy Unpacked event is rumored to take place on August 5th. The company is expected to unveil the Galaxy Fold 2 along with the Galaxy Note 20 and 5G Galaxy Z Flip smartphones. Now, China’s 3C certification website has revealed the battery capacity of the upcoming Galaxy Fold 2 smartphone.
Earlier leaks confirmed the Galaxy Fold 2 to come with model number SM-F916. Just like its predecessor, the upcoming Galaxy Fold 2 will also feature dual batteries. There will be one battery on each side of the device.
Galaxy Fold 2 to offer 4,365mAh battery capacity
While the main battery comes with a rated capacity of 2,275mAh, the secondary battery has a capacity of 2,090mAh. The difference in capacity is to maintain the weight balance. The original Galaxy Fold came with a combined battery capacity of 4,380mAh.
Interestingly, the battery capacity on the upcoming foldable will be slightly lower at 4,365mAh. Even with similar battery capacity, the second-gen Galaxy Fold should offer better battery life thanks to the more power efficient Snapdragon 865 chipset.
Samsung to continue using the dual battery design
Apart from fast wired charging, Samsung could also add fast wireless charging and reverse wireless charging support as well.
Other leaked information includes a 7.59-inch main display with 2213 by 1689 pixels resolution. As seen on the Galaxy S20 smartphones, the Galaxy Fold 2 will also offer 120Hz refresh rate.
The front cover display will now come with waterdrop style Infinity-V notch. The primary camera setup on this device will be similar to that of the Galaxy S20+. The Galaxy S20+ comes with a 10MP dual pixel front-facing camera with an aperture of f/2.2.
The quad camera setup on the rear included a 12MP dual pixel primary sensor, a 64MP telephoto sensor, a 12MP ultra-wide sensor, and an additional depth sensor.
With the Galaxy Fold 2, Samsung is likely to introduce a more premium ceramic variant along with the standard stainless steel variant.
It will be launched in Blue, Silver, Gold, Pink, and Black color options. Both the Galaxy Fold 2 and Galaxy Note 20 will also be the first devices to come with One UI 2.5. Apart from these two new devices, Samsung will also announce the 5G variant of the Galaxy Z Flip.
The current 4G Galaxy Z Flip comes with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 855+ Mobile Platform. However, the upcoming 5G variant might feature the Snapdragon 865 Mobile Platform.
While the upcoming Galaxy Fold 2 will be unveiled on August 5th, it is rumored to go on sale starting August 20th.
