Earlier this morning ASUS took the wraps off of its newest entry in the ROG Phone series, the ROG Phone 3, and it’s really set the bar high this time for gaming smartphones.

Building on the success the ROG Phone II had with mobile gamers, ASUS has packed its new device with the latest features and hardware.

It also revealed a few surprises that were designed to enhance the mobile gaming experience even more. With new accessories that are designed to help enhance each gaming experience.

The ASUS ROG Phone 3 is packed with power and comes with all-new accessories

Keeping with its reputation as the premiere mobile gaming smartphone, the latest version of the ROG Phone comes with the latest version of Qualcomm’s mobile platform, the Snapdragon 865 Plus 5G.

This puts it on par with the Lenovo Legion Duel. Lenovo’s first gaming smartphone that was announced this morning as well. It also puts the ROG Phone 3 in a unique position of being the better phone. Not necessarily from a hardware standpoint because both phones seem powerful.

Rather, more from a feature standpoint. Because the ROG Phone 3 is not only a gaming powerhouse for mobile games, but ASUS is using it for the continued partnership with Google and Stadia. Making it more equipped to deliver a variety of gaming experiences on the go.

Alongside the new phone, ASUS is also releasing a new version of every accessory it launched with last year’s ROG Phone II. This includes the Kunai 3 Gamepad, the TwinView 3 Dock, the Game Clip, and even a new external monitor with the Strix XG16.

It’s also releasing new versions of the Lightning Armor cases. As well as a 65-percent wireless gaming keyboard called the Falchion that can be used with the phone.

Specs to secure your spot in the rankings

Mobile gaming these days has been taken to another level with games like Call of Duty: Mobile and PUBG Mobile. But to outperform your competitors in the rankings you’ll want a high-powered device.

The ROG Phone 3 delivers on that with its list of top-tier hardware specs. The device comes with three RAM and storage configurations. The most high-end model has 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage.

It’ll also cost the most. There will also be a 12GB RAM model with 256GB of storage, and an 8GB model with 256GB of storage. The phone will have a 6.59-inch AMOLED display with HDR color calibration. It bumped up the refresh rate too, jumping from 120Hz to a 144Hz.

As for cameras, ASUS is using a triple camera array on the back this time. This carries a 64-megapixel main sensor along with a 13-megapixel ultrawide sensor, and a new 5-megapixel macro sensor. The front camera meanwhile uses a 24-megapixel sensor.

To keep things cool the device comes with ASUS’ updated vapor chamber cooling technology, Game Cool 3, and it’s kept the 6,000mAh-capacity battery that the ROG Phone II had. So expect long battery life on a single charge and plenty of hours of gaming.

Though the AirTriggers are also making a return, ASUS says it’s improved them by adding additional functionality. This time around you have swipe gestures on each AirTrigger and it’s possible to split each one up to act as two buttons just like you get with your standard game controllers.

In short, this will be one very powerful smartphone. ASUS is releasing the ROG Phone 3 in the US in September of this year. No pricing has been mentioned yet for the US. But it will likely cost at least $899 for the least expensive model.
