Samsung, today, took the wraps off of the Galaxy Z Flip 5G ahead of Unpacked.

As expected, based on the rumors and leaks ahead of this announcement, the Galaxy Z Flip 5G really only has two changes. One is the processor, and the other is the colors.

Galaxy Z Flip 5G is going to be running on the Snapdragon 865+ which also makes it the first Samsung device to come with this newer processor. In fact, the unannounced Galaxy Note 20 series and Galaxy Z Fold 2 are only expected to come with the Snapdragon 865.

Galaxy Z Flip 5G is the most compact foldable 5G smartphone

The Galaxy Z Flip 5G is now the most compact foldable 5G smartphone on the market. Of course, there’s not much competition out there right now anyways.

Galaxy Z Flip 5G is about the same size and dimensions as the regular Galaxy Z Flip.

It still sports that 6.7-inch FHD+ 21.9:9 aspect ratio display. Along with the 1.1-inch AMOLED display on the front. Of course, powered by the Snapdragon 865+, as well as 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. It also still has the same camera setup, with two 12-megapixel sensors on the back – main and wide-angle. And then a 10-megapixel front-facing sensor.

On the 5G front, it supports Non-Standalone, Standalone, Sub-6, and Dynamic Spectrum Sharing. That means that there is no support for mmWave. And that also means that this won’t be going to Verizon.

The new colors available for the Galaxy Z Flip 5G include Mystic Gray and Mystic Bronze. Two new colors for the foldable this time around.

Flex mode is still available on the Galaxy Z Flip 5G, and it has updated the camera for it, again. Making it easier to shoot from higher and lower angles on the Galaxy Z Flip. So that whether you want to capture low-angle action videos or vibrant birds-eye photos of your meal, simply double-tap in Flex mode to switch the camera’s preview window from the top of the bottom half of the device.

Pricing & Availability

The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5G is going to be going on sale starting August 7, just after Unpacked takes place on August 5.

It’s going to be available in carrier and unlocked versions from Samsung.com. As well as being available through AT&T, Best Buy, T-Mobile and Amazon.

Galaxy Z Flip 5G is going to cost you $1449, a $60 bump over the original Galaxy Z Flip, and considering you’re getting 5G here, that bump isn’t too bad.

Of course, it’ll be available in both Mystic Gray and Mystic Bronze through all of those retailers and carriers.
