Samsung revamped its TouchWiz UI with the release of One UI 1.0 based on Android 9 Pie. Soon after the launch of Android 10, the Galaxy S20 series phones came pre-loaded One UI 2.0.

And if we go by recent reports, Samsung might soon push the One UI 2.5 update for the Galaxy S20 series phones. Notably, the Galaxy S10 lineup came with One UI 1.1 out of the box, instead of One UI 1.0. Moreover, it never got the One UI 1.5 update.

Besides, the Galaxy S10 got One UI 2.0 update with some features lifted from Galaxy Note 10’s One UI 1.5. Taking a cue from this, users should expect the Galaxy S20 to pick up One UI 3.0 in place of One UI 2.5.

But that is not necessarily the case. As per the latest Twitter posts from Ice Universe and Max Weinbach, the Galaxy S20 series will get the One UI 2.5 update, sometime after the launch of Galaxy Note 20 series, which is due for launch on August 5, 2020.

As per Max Weinbach, Samsung has already started testing the early builds of One UI 2.5 for the Galaxy Z Flip and Galaxy S20 series.

One UI 2.5 to bring Google’s UI gestures support for third-party launchers

Sammobile reports that One UI 2.5 is expected to bring more subtle improvements and enhancements over One UI 2.1. Moreover, Samsung is expected to finally bring Google UI navigation gesture support for third-party launchers with One UI 2.5. Samsung also introduced several camera features with One UI 2.1, Single Take being the prominent one among those.

For the unaware, Single Take lets you capture four videos and ten photos using the rear-camera setup. The benefit of this is you get an ultra-wide image, Live Focus image, and wide-angle photo, along with 15-second video clips, and boomerangs. Pro-video mode is what we expect One UI 2.5 to bring more improvements on.

Well, without a doubt, One UI 2.5 will debut with the Galaxy Note 20 series and Galaxy Fold 2 which will be released later this August. Moreover, once the Galaxy Note 20 is live in the market, we would soon get the One UI 2.5 update for the Galaxy S20 series.

The update, as always, will be pushed via OTA in a staggered manner. Meaning that a certain set of regions will receive the update first, gradually making its way for more regions.

There is not much known as of now about One UI 2.5. We will have to wait till the Unpacked Event to know about official features of One UI 2.5.
