The flip camera will be a part of the ASUS ZenFone 7, it seems. According to a new piece of information that surfaced online, the ASUS ZenFone 7 will feature a triple flip camera setup.

Some information regarding those cameras did surface, along with some additional info. The info surfaced on the reameizu website, and was shared via Twitter.

The flip camera module on the ASUS ZenFone 7 will host three cameras

If this info is to be believed, the ASUS ZenFone 7 will feature a 64-megapixel main camera, it will utilize Sony’s IMX686 sensor. In addition to that, ASUS will include a 12-megapixel ultra-wide camera (Sony’s IMX363 sensor), and a ToF unit.

Those cameras will serve as both the phone’s rear and front-facing units. Those cameras will be rear-facing until you switch to a selfie camera in the camera app, at which point they’ll rotate.

The source also mentions that the phone will be fueled by the Snapdragon 865 Plus SoC. That is Qualcomm’s most powerful processor at the moment, and it offers 5G support.

The ZenFone 7 will also include a fingerprint scanner, but it won’t be an under-display one, it seems. The source claims that Goodix’s fingerprint scanner will be rear-mounted.

The device may not feature an OLED display

What is disappointing, though, is the fact that the phone may include an LCD panel. The source claims that a 6.4-inch fullHD+ LCD panel by BOE will be used. This will be a 60Hz display, by the way.

Considering this will be ASUS’ flagship, basically, we’d expect an OLED panel. It is worth noting that the phone is set to be quite affordable, but still, an OLED panel is kind of expected in this day and age.

The ASUS ZenFone 6 managed to be quite popular last year, as it was different, affordable, and all-around a good phone. That LCD panel on it was probably the most negative thing people noticed.

Well, the ASUS ZenFone 7 was expected to fix that with an OLED panel, but that may not happen. We do hope that this information is not accurate, but we’ll see.

The ASUS ZenFone 7 pricing is rumored to start at €499. That is the rumored price tag for a 6GB RAM variant of the device. An 8GB RAM model will also launch, it seems, and start at €549.

No matter whether the phone ends up sporting an OLED display or not, this price tag is quite appealing. The device is expected to launch on August 26, in exactly one week.
