Finally, the Google Home app is getting its long-awaited dark mode feature with the latest version. Notably, this new theme arrives with Google Home app version 2.27.

Dark Mode was one of the hot topics when Android 10 made its way to the scene. However, Google was way behind updating its app with the dark mode feature.

Slowly but steadily Google pushed the dark mode theme to its apps and now it is finally time for the Google Home app for a dark makeover.

Point to note is that this dark mode is not the actual dark mode. Besides, it is more of a Google’s signature dark mode where it has a slight greyish tint to it.

The Google Home app dark mode is pretty simple, and it converts the eye-blinding white background to much user-friendly dark greyish tint you might be familiar with other Google apps.

This feature could be very useful for users who control multiple smart devices from the Google Home app. Moreover, all the app icons and texts are appropriately tinted to match the dark theme.

The Google Home dark mode is painted on every menu of the app

Good thing is that Google has not missed a spot painting it with a dark theme. As per 9to5Google, All the layers of the Google Home app are covered in a dark theme.

The layers include the Primary events feed, settings menu, panes, etc. Interestingly now, there is no option to manually toggle between the dark and light themes in the app.

Moreover, this means that you are now conveniently stuck with the dark theme on the Google Home app. The previous version of the app added functions like full Wi-Fi settings and Nest Hub Max to the Android 11 device controls menu.

Although other apps like Contacts, Messages, Phone, Photos, Gmail, Search were almost prompt to get the dark mode by the Mountain View giant, it saved the Home app for last.

Notably, Google Maps also leaped and adapted the dark mode quite late. And finally, it was time for the Google Home app.

Besides, if you are also interested in updating and using the app dark mode, then you need to make sure that you have the version 2.27.1.9. Note that this new feature is not yet available for iOS users.

The update is already live via the Google Play Store. To save you from hassle, you can click the button below to grab the latest version of the Google Home app and experience dark mode.
