After getting a big overhaul with the logo earlier in February this year, Google is now revamping its Google Maps Saved tab. Moreover, it is adding some extra features to maximize the productivity of the saved tab.
Well, the earlier update along with a new logo also brought in a new navigation bar, live view feature, and enhanced transit features. Notably, this new revamp of the Google Maps Saved tab brings a new UI, making it easier to remember saved places.
Google Maps is the best thing that has happened to a normal being. Let’s face it, getting into a new city, not knowing anything about it, but then you have a phone and Google Maps on it, makes life so much easier.
In fact, the Saved tab mode also helps you save any location offline in your app. This means that you can use the direction from Google Maps even if you do not have an active internet connection.
Travellers prefer to save far-flung places in the Google Maps Saved tab. So, that it can be used when they reach that place or city. Besides, as per Google data, people across the globe saved over 7 billion places on Google Maps.
Basically, the Saved tab is one of the most used features of Google Maps. And taking this into consideration, Google decided to give it a proper productivity overhaul.
There are 3 easy ways to maximize the new Google Maps Saved tab
In the official blog, Google has coined three easy ways which would help you maximize the usability of the new Google Maps Saved tab.
Firstly, the most recently saved places will show up right at the top of the Saved tab. Thus, making it easier for you to navigate to that new spot.
Though all your saved places will be there intact, just the recently saved location will show up in an organized manner at the top of the Saved tab.
The second change to maximize the usage of the Saved tab requires you to enable the location permission on your device. Basically, when you pass a previously saved location, you see all the nearby saved places sorted by distance.
All the entries will be saved in an organized manner in your ‘Saved’ tab on Maps. The third change has to do with tracking the location you have already been to.
You need to make sure you have turned ON the Location History. After which you see all the places you have visited on your Timeline. This might come handy if you are a traveller and want to share all the places you visited with your friends or family.
