Samsung has announced has rolled out a new update for the Galaxy S20 series. As reported by Sammobile, it revealed the One UI 2.5 update alongside the release of the Galaxy Note 20 and Note 20 Ultra.

The update includes the latest iteration of its custom Android skin as well as a number of new features and improvements.

Android Headlines has most recently compared the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra with the S20+ to see which one comes out on top. Prior to this, we got a look at all the six color variants of the S20 FE 5G.

One UI 2.5 update comes to S20 series

The Galaxy S20 series it the first to receive this update. Samsung has begun rolling out the firmware version G981BXXU4BTH5G986BXXU4BTH5 and G988BXXU4BTH5 to the S20 5g, S20+ and S20 Ultra respectively.

This roll out has begun in European markets. These include Italy, Hungary, Portugal, the Netherlands and Germany but some other territories also have the update.

This all suggests the roll out of this update will be in other territories soon. LTE should also receive the update in the near future.

New features include wireless DeX

Amongst other things, the new update includes wireless DeX as a new feature. Alongside this, the update to the Samsung Galaxy S20 series also incorporates enhanced Pro video mode and the ability to change Single Take duration.

Perhaps, more importantly, it is now possible to use Android 10 navigation gestures in third-party app launchers. This means you can now switch to a third-party app launcher if you do not like Samsung’s stock app launcher. In doing so you can still use Android 10’s full-screen navigation gestures.

The fact that Samsung has been proactive in taking this step is really positive. By pushing this update to the S20 series that means other models are likely to follow. This means the process of rolling out the One UI 2.5 update has well and truly begun.

Samsung is generally pretty good at being proactive in these sorts of situations. However, it is still great to see them taking these steps early so owners of other model are not left waiting for ages for this new update.

Hopefully, this roll out will continue to run smoothly and everyone with a Samsung device will receive the update in due course. As with all of these things we do not have any firm dates for the rest of the roll out. However, expect it to no be too far down the line.
