Last week, Samsung started rolling out the new One UI 2.5 update to the Exynos-powered Galaxy S20 smartphones in Europe. Now, the same update is coming to T-Mobile Galaxy S20 smartphones in the US. Looks like carriers are catching up with the OEM’s in rolling out new updates with a quick turnaround.

The latest One UI 2.5 update for the Galaxy S20, S20+, and Galaxy S20 Ultra smartphones on T-Mobile come with the firmware version G98xUSQU1BTHD and weighs around 1GB in size. Apart from several new features, it also includes the Android security patch for the month of August 2020.

Unlike in Europe, the Galaxy S20 series in the US comes powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset. Earlier today, Samsung also rolled out the One UI 2.5 update to its Snapdragon 855+ powered Galaxy Z Flip in the US. Within the next few weeks, we can expect to see OTA updates for the Galaxy S20 smartphones from other carriers as well.

Users can also manually check for the new OTA update by going to Settings > Software update > Download. The main feature of the One UI 2.5 update is the wireless DeX support. It allows Galaxy S20 users to experience DeX UI on select Samsung Smart TVs without any wired connections.

Full-screen gestures finally work with third-party launchers

Moreover, third-party launchers will also support full-screen gestures with this new update. The enhanced Pro Video feature also brings in a bunch of camera-related features. All the Galaxy S20 smartphones will now support 8K video recording at 24fps and also get the new 21:9 aspect ratio mode.

The camera app now allows the user to pick from the multiple onboard microphones for recording audio. Furthermore, users can also use Bluetooth earbuds or a dedicated microphone for capturing audio during video recording. The One UI 2.5 update also allows the users to request the Wi-Fi password from nearby contacts.

The Always-On Displays now allows you to add Bitmoji Stickers. Interestingly, this is missing on the Galaxy Note 20 devices running on One UI 2.5 out of the box. The search feature of the Samsung keyboard now also works with Youtube. It also gets the split keyboard option in landscape mode.

Samsung also added a new SOS feature that allows sending SOS messages with location data every 30 minutes for 24 hours to pre-selected contacts. As the update is rolling out incrementally, it might take a while before reaching all eligible smartphones.
