The ASUS ZenFone 7 series launched recently, with a flip camera setup, similar to the ZenFone 7. Well, now a ZenFone 7 Pro teardown surfaced, offering us a closer look at that flip up camera.

The ZenFone 7 and 7 Pro are the first two phones with a triple flip camera, in the world. This setup is quite different than the one on the ZenFone 6, even though it looks the same on the outside.

The ASUS ZenFone 7 Pro teardown shows that a motor is built into the camera module itself

The teardown video, which is embedded below, reveals that. The ASUS ZenFone 7 and 7 Pro have a motor built into the camera module itself. The ZenFone 6, on the other hand, was located right next to the camera module.

The phone still features the stacked PCB design, though, just like the ZenFone 6. What does that mean? Well, there are two boards on top of each other. Both of them are cooled through thermal paste and copper.

Two heat pipes are also included, and they’re supposed to push the heat away from the chipset, and dump it into a copper block. That copper block is glued down to the back of the display.

Based on the provided video, the ASUS ZenFone 7 Pro is not exactly difficult to disassemble, at least by today’s standards. The adhesive does make things a bit more difficult in specific areas, though, while there are also a ton of cables on the inside.

The provided ASUS ZenFone 7 Pro teardown video has a duration of around 9 minutes. It is actually quite detailed, and the flip camera is not the only thing you’ll see here.

This video will show you pretty much every part of the device

You’ll get to see basically every part of the phone. This video can actually be quite useful if you need to repair your phone, or you need to get someone else to do it.

The ASUS ZenFone 7 and 7 Pro are actually quite similar. They look the same from the outside, while their internals are a bit different. The ‘Pro’ model does include a newer SoC, More RAM, more storage, and OIS.

Other than that, however, they’re pretty much the same. A 5,000mAh battery is included in both phones, while both support 30W fast wired charging. Wireless charging is not a part of the picture.

Both phones feature a side-facing fingerprint scanner, and stereo speakers. Android 10 comes pre-installed on both, along with ASUS’ ZenUI 7. Both phones include a 6.67-inch fullHD+ AMOLED display, with 90Hz refresh rate.

These two phones are actually quite compelling, as they offer a lot in the spec and design departments, while they do not cost as much as other flagships.
