The Huawei MateBook X is the most powerful laptop this company has ever announced. This device has been announced during the company’s developer’s conference (HDC) today.
This is Huawei’s competitor for Apple’s high-end MacBooks, it’s essentially an ultrabook. It is made out of aluminum, and it’s really thin. It measures 13.6mm at its thickest part, while it weighs only 1kg.
The Huawei MateBook X features a 3K display with really thin bezels
This is the first notebook to feature the Infinite FullView Display. The device offers a 90-percent screen-to-body ratio, with very minimal bezels. This LTPS screen supports 3K (3000 x 200) resolution with 100-percent sRGB color.
The display comes with a 3:2 aspect ratio. It is touch-sensitive, and it comes with gestures support. You can, for example, utilize the ‘Fingers Gesture Screenshot’, all you have to do is swipe with three fingers towards the bottom of the display.
Eye Comfort mode is included in the package, and Huawei included a lot of brightness adjustment algorithms to ensure a consistent viewing experience no matter where you are.
The device is fueled by the 10th generation Intel Core processor (i5 or i7) with 16GB of RAM. Wi-Fi 6 is included, and it supports speeds up to three times of Wi-Fi 5.
This laptop comes with a 42Wh battery, working in collaboration with Huawei’s smart battery management. The device supports up to 9 hours of local media playback, for example.
A 65W charger is included in the box
A 65W charger is also included in the package, and it can replenish this battery rather fast, compared to many other laptops out there. It has an array of useful ports on the outside, so you won’t lack anything in that regard either.
This laptop’s full-size keyboard features scissors switches that offer 1.3mm of key travel, which should make typing more enjoyable. That keyboard is also illuminated, so typing at dark shouldn’t be an issue.
Quad speakers are also a part of the package, with a split-frequency setup, and precise distortion correction. A dual microphone array is also included, and it should pick up sound really well, even at a distance. This is a Windows 10-based device, by the way.
The Huawei MateBook X will become available for purchase in September, in select regions. The Intel Core i5 variant with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of internal storage is priced at €1,599. The Core i7 model with the same amount of RAM and storage will be available for €1,799.
