The LG Velvet 5G is already available from AT&T and Verizon in the US. As seen in the international markets, both the carriers are offering the Snapdragon 765G-powered variant. Today, T-Mobile has officially launched its “exclusive LG Velvet 5G” smartphone powered by the all-new MediaTek Dimensity 1000C SoC.

Apart from featuring a different chipset and a smaller battery, T-Mobile’s variant is no different from the LG Velvet 5G sold by the other two carriers. First off, it looks premium with the LG’s new design language featuring a raindrop camera setup and 3D curved edges. The device comes in Aurora Gray and Pink White color options.

The T-Mobile Velvet 5G comes with the new MediaTek Dimensity 1000C chipset

Comparing the specifications, the Dimensity 1000C looks like a superior chipset to the Snapdragon 765G 5G. It is built on 7nm process and comes packed with 4x Cortex-A77 cores clocked at 2.0GHz and 4x Cortex-A55 CPU cores clocked at 2.0GHz.

With the 5-core Mali-G57 GPU, the graphics performance of the chip should be comparable with that of Snapdragon 765G. Also, the Dimensity 1000C is the first 5G chipset from MediaTek to launch in the US. It’s IP68 certified for water and dust resistance and MIL-STD-810G certified for durability.

Speaking of the other specifications, the LG Velvet 5G sports a 6.8-inch OLED display with Full HD+ (2340 × 1080 pixels) resolution and 20.5:9 aspect ratio. The waterdrop notch on the front features a 16-megapixel selfie camera. It includes 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage.

With the MicroSD card slot, the storage can be expanded technically up to 2TB. The device runs on Android 10 out of the box. On the rear, the triple camera setup features a 48-megapixel primary camera, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide camera, and a 5-megapixel depth camera.

It packs in a slightly smaller battery

With all these specifications, the device is kept powered on by a 4,000mAh battery and supports 18W fast charging. In comparison, the Snapdragon 765G-powered LG Velvet came with a 4,300mAh battery. The device sports stereo speakers and also a 3.5mm audio jack.

Connectivity options include Wi-Fi, 5G, LTE, Bluetooth 5.1, NFC, and USB Type-C port. There is also a dedicated Google Assistant button on the left edge of the device. It will be available starting September 10 for $588 or $0 down with $24.50 per month for 24 months.

Consumers can also save up to 50-percent with an eligible trade-in device or by adding a new line. And this is a deal that’s applicable to both new and existing customers. Moreover, the T-Mobile LG Velvet 5G is also cheaper than the AT&T and Verizon variants and that too by featuring a superior chipset.
