Samsung will be unveiling the new Galaxy S20 FE (a.k.a Galaxy S20 Fan Edition) with flagship-level specs at its “Galaxy Unpacked for Every Fan” event scheduled for September 23. It will be the successor of the Galaxy S10 Lite launched at the very beginning of this year.
As per a recent leak, the upcoming Galaxy S20 FE will be sold for €729 (approx. $865) in Greece. Moreover, the device’s leaked specifications also suggest how it differs from the top-of-the-line Galaxy S20 smartphones.
Samsung Galaxy S20 FE leaked specs
First off, the 6.5-inch Super AMOLED display on the front comes with Full HD+ resolution. Though the device supports a 120Hz refresh rate, it will be missing the newly introduced adaptive refresh rate technology. Without the variable refresh rate, the 120Hz mode will take a toll on the battery’s performance.
The highlight feature of the Galaxy S10 Lite is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855+ mobile platform. It is the only smartphone in the Galaxy S10 lineup to launch with a Snapdragon chipset in all the markets.
With the upcoming Galaxy S20 FE, the company will be going with the usual strategy of using either Snapdragon or Exynos chipset, depending on the market. The 5G variant of the Galaxy S20 FE is mentioned to launch with the overclocked Snapdragon 865+ mobile platform.
Comes with a 32MP selfie camera on the front
This is the same chipset that also powers the newly launched Galaxy Note 20 smartphones. For the 4G variant, Samsung will be going with the in-house Exynos 990 processor. Moreover, the recent leaks hinted the device to be available in a single storage option — 6GB RAM + 128GB storage.
Speaking of the cameras, the Galaxy S20 FE will come equipped with a 12MP primary camera, a 12MP ultra-wide camera, and an 8MP telephoto camera. On the front, the selfie camera will receive an upgrade from 10MP to 32MP.
According to the source, it will come packed with a 4,000mAh battery. This is in contradiction to earlier reports where it is mentioned to come with a slightly higher battery capacity of 4,500mAh. Notably, the Galaxy S20 FE will only get a 15W fast charging power adapter.
The IP68 certification will also make the device water and dust resistant. Unlike the other Galaxy S20 smartphone, the Fan Edition will feature the 3.5mm audio jack. Like the $1000 Galaxy Note 20, the new Galaxy S20 FE will also be made out of plastic, which Samsung calls Glasstic.
The previous leaks already confirmed the device to be available in a wide range of color options. That being said, some of the color options will be limited to certain markets.
