Microsoft has lifted the veil on cost for its powerful next-gen console, the Xbox Series X.

After months of waiting and only two months left before launch, consumers finally know what they’ll pay if the want the disc version of the upcoming Xbox. This is after Microsoft unveiled the first image of the Xbox Series S alongside its own price on September 8.

In announcement today revealing the launch and price tag, Microsoft confirms that the Xbox Series X will cost as much as the Xbox One X did at its launch back in 2017. Considering the power of the new console, this is a pretty good deal.

Xbox Series X will cost $499 when it launches

Early on some may have speculated that Microsoft would charge more for its next-gen Xbox. But Microsoft has now confirmed that won’t be the case.

The Xbox Series X will come with a $499 price tag when it launches. As noted above, the Xbox One X, the more powerful version of the Xbox from the current generation of consoles, launched in 2017 at $499. Which means price is right on par here.

Microsoft will also launch the Xbox Series X on November 10. And coincidentally, Ubisoft has moved up the launch date for its upcoming Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, which will now be one of the launch day titles for the Series X. As will Destiny 2 Beyond Light.

Giving Xbox Series X buyers a lot to work with the very first day.

Pre-orders begin this month

Can’t wait to get your hands on the Xbox Series X? You’ll get the chance soon enough.

While Microsoft may not be anticipating any issues with low stock, it’s not exactly a bad idea to pre-order the console if you want one at launch.

Pre-orders for the Xbox Series X and the Xbox Series S will begin this month. Specifically on September 22. No doubt there will be plenty of places to place the pre-order. Microsoft will likely sell them through its own online store.

Amazon will probably have the pre-orders as well. And you’ll more than likely be able to place them at numerous other retail partners like Best Buy, GameStop and others.

In addition to the Xbox Series X and Series S consoles in November, Microsoft is launching xCloud into beta next week. On September 15, xCloud will be a part of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate at no additional charge. Opening access to over 100 games that you can stream over the internet.
