YouTube TV made it official today, and is launching a new “Sports Plus” package, that is going to include a number of sports channels, for an additional $10.99 per month.

The Sports Plus package includes NFL RedZone, Fox College Sports, GolTV, Fox Soccer Plus, MAVTV Motorsports Network, TVG, and Stadium. And as mentioned, it will cost $10.99 per month. But, you don’t have to subscribe to it. So there’s no price hike this time around.

For those that don’t want to subscriber to this new Sports Plus package, you do still get NFL Network with regular YouTube TV, which is a nice addition.

All of these networks will be available on YouTube TV starting September 13.

YouTube TV is launching a new way to watch sports

Along with today’s announcement, YouTube TV is also adding a new dashboard that you can access while watching games. There’s a new Key plays view, that tracks important plays and lets you easily rewatch them.

There’s also a new scores view, so you can see the scores from today’s games by tapping “scores”, and you can easily switch back and forth between different games.

YouTube TV is also adding Stats view, which is pretty self-explanatory, giving you the ability to see real-time stats for the games you’re watching. And finally, Spoiler Mode. With Spoiler Mode, if you are saving a game to watch later, you can avoid spoilers across all devices. Just search for the team, tap the three dots on the top right and select “hide all scores”.

Only the beginning of “packages” in YouTube TV

One of the biggest features that customers want YouTube TV to add, is packages. Instead of everyone getting every single channel, they would rather have packages. So that they can get only the channels they want, and hopefully pay less per month.

The launch of this Sports Plus package shows that YouTube TV is likely working on a similar feature. Which means that in the future, we could be getting another package with kids channels, and maybe one with news channels and so forth. Though, it’s unlikely that the price of the core YouTube TV will go down, it’ll be nice to see them adding more channels without hiking the price so significantly. Like they have the past few years.

The future of YouTube TV is looking pretty good, we just hope that Google doesn’t decide to kill it in the near future.
