ASUS is now rolling out the Android 11 beta update to recruited Zenfone 7 Pro beta testers. The rollout is happening exactly a month after releasing the beta build to the Zenfone 6. The Android 11-based Zen UI beta update comes with the build number 30.04.31.30 and is 1.1GB in size.

Last month, the company started recruiting beta testers with the Zenfone 7 Pro smartphone for the Android 11 update. However, ASUS hasn’t yet revealed the timeline for the stable update. As seen with other OEM’s, ASUS will also likely prioritize its latest flagship smartphones for the Android 11 public release.

Going by the changelog, the company is bringing in a lot of changes to the in-house Zen UI. Additionally, the company is offering optional Android 11 features like the notification conversations and quick controls in the power button menu. The power button will no longer show the option to take a screenshot.

Users can long-press the power button to quickly access the smart home shortcuts and Google Pay. ASUS is also revamping the majority of stock apps, including Mobile Manager, Contacts, Phone, File Manager, Calculator, Clock, Gallery, and Settings.

It will also show the updated media controls introduced with Android 11. The company is also bringing the bubble notifications and notification history. When turning on airplane mode in Android 11, the device will no longer disable the Bluetooth connection.

Android 11 brings improved privacy controls

All Android 11-powered smartphones will also provide better privacy controls like one-time permissions and auto-reset permissions. Users can manually add the newly launched nearby share to the quick settings on the notifications panel.

Like any other beta build, there will be some known issues with this Android 11-based Zen UI update. Hence, it is not recommended to try out on the primary smartphone. For the stable release, the Zenfone 7 should also accompany the Zenfone 7 Pro.

Compared to the standard Zenfone 7, the Pro moniker sports the Plus variant of the Snapdragon 865 SoC and offers OIS for both primary and telephoto cameras. Apart from these changes, both the 2020 flagship smartphones from ASUS offer the exact same specifications.

Google and Samsung have already announced that they will provide three years of guaranteed software support for their smartphones. On the other hand, ASUS is only promising two major OS updates even for its flagship smartphones. Since the newly launched Zenfone 7 series comes with last year’s Android 10 out of the box, Android 12 releasing next year will be its last major OS update.
