In September last year, Google launched the Google Play Pass subscription service in the US. As announced during the “Launch Night In” event, the company is now expanding the Google Play Pass to more countries across Europe.

With the Google Play Pass, users can access more 350 games and apps without any ads or in-app purchases. Besides, Google also mentioned bringing more apps to the Play Pass every month. Furthermore, the subscription can also be shared with up to five family members by enabling the Family Library option.

Google expands Play Pass to 24 new countries

Like the other apps in the Family Library, each member can access the Play Pass individually. The list of newly added countries includes Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Greece, Hungary, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, and Sweden.

Google introduced the Play Pass just after Apple launched the Apple Arcade, a monthly subscription service for exclusive games. However, the core functionality of the Play Pass is entirely different from Apple Arcade. Unlike Apple, Google doesn’t offer any exclusive content for the Play Pass users.

It costs just €4.99 per month in Europe

It remains to be seen how Play Pass will fare against Apple Arcade in the long run. In Europe, the Play Pass comes with a price tag of €4.99 per month or €29.99 per year. As seen earlier, the company might also offer a one-month trial in these new markets. Moreover, Google also made the yearly plan available across all the markets

One of the main advantages of the Play Pass is the ad-free experience of the freemium apps. Usually, these apps come loaded with ads all over the UI. Obviously, not many of the popular paid apps and games will be coming to Play Pass.

Some of the popular games available in the Play Pass catalog are Monument Valley 2, LIMBO, Star Wars: KOTOR, Sesame Street Alphabet Kitchen, Shadow Fight 2 Special Edition, and Sonic the Hedgehog Classic. Also, there is no easy way to find all the apps and games available on Play Pass right now.

There will be a ticket logo on the Play Store listing of the particular app or game to confirm that it is part of the subscription service. The Google Play Pass was initially exclusive to the US market. In July this, the availability also expanded to Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, New Zealand, Spain, and the UK.
