A day after rolling out the One UI 3.0 public beta in its home country, Samsung is now making it available in the US. It is still limited to the Galaxy S20, Galaxy S20+, and Galaxy S20 Ultra smartphones. The banner for the public beta is now showing up in the Samsung Members app for the Galaxy S20 devices in the US.
Once enrolled, users have to download a firmware file that is around 2.8GB in size. Looks like the Android 11-based One UI 3.0 public beta is initially available exclusively to T-Mobile customers. While there is no clear information, a wider rollout is expected very soon.
Galaxy S20 users in the US can now experience the One UI 3.0
The public release for the Galaxy S20 series will likely release by the end of this year. Apart from the newly launched Android 11, the first One UI 3.0 public beta also includes the October security patch. Previous reports suggest that the One UI 3.0 public beta program will soon go live in the UK, India, China, Germany, and Poland.
Along with the latest Android 11, Samsung is offering a lot of new features with the One UI 3.0. Besides, the first public beta also includes several know issues. Hence, it is not recommended to use the One UI 3.0 public beta on your primary smartphone.
There are several known issues in the first public beta
Currently, users in other countries can still sideload the firmware to try out the latest Android 11 based One UI 3.0. Last week, the company also began rolling out the October security patch update to the Galaxy S20 and Galaxy S10 smartphones.
Apart from the Galaxy S20 series, Samsung also plans to expand the public beta to other Galaxy flagship smartphones. The Galaxy Note 20, Galaxy Note 20 Ultra, and Galaxy S20 FE might soon join the One UI 3.0 public beta program.
With the One UI 3.0, Galaxy S20 users can access widgets by long pressing on their respective app icon. Additionally, major enhancements are coming to the widgets for the lock screen and always-on display. Moreover, the accessibility menu is getting a major makeover with the latest version of the One UI.
The suggestions for accessibility features will show up based on usage patterns. In addition, Samsung will allow users to access essential accessibility options while setting up the device for the first time. Users can also double-tap on an empty area on the home screen to lock the device.
