The OnePlus 9 will launch sooner than you think, a new report claims. The OnePlus 8 series launched in mid-April this year. The company’s OnePlus 7 series, on the other hand, arrived in mid-May.

Well, if a report by Android Central is to be believed, the OnePlus 9 will launch in March. This is quite a surprise, as OnePlus basically never launches its smartphones that early.

The OnePlus 9 will launch sooner than usual, in mid-March, it seems

The source says that an “insider source” has provided this information, and that the company hasn’t settled on an exact launch date yet. The event will be scheduled around mid-March, though.

The Samsung Galaxy S21 series is expected to launch in January, about six weeks earlier than usual. Samsung decided to do this in order to trump the competition, quite probably, and OnePlus is pushing for an earlier release date as well.

The Mobile World Congress (MWC) usually takes place at the end of February, and closes in early March, but that won’t be the case next year. That tradeshow has been moved to mid-2021.

The Snapdragon 875 will almost certainly be included

The OnePlus 9 series is expected to consist of at least two phones, though we don’t have any specifics yet. It will, almost certainly, be fueled by the Snapdragon 875 SoC, though. That processor hasn’t been made official yet, it’s coming later this year.

Android 11 will come pre-installed on the OnePlus 9, along with the company’s OxygenOS skin. We’re not sure if the company is planning any major design-related changes, we’ll have to wait and see.

At least one of the OnePlus 9 models will offer IP certification, and wireless charging, if not both of them. We’re expecting to see one larger and one smaller model, though who knows what will the company do next year.

This information is quite surprising as the OnePlus 8T series just went on sale yesterday. Speaking of which, if you’re interested, you can get that phone in both Europe and the US as we speak, read more about that.
