Yesterday, Snapchat announced a new TikTok-like feature called Spotlight. This Spotlight feature will allow users to create and watch content from other members of the platform.

We have a ton of social media apps like Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, Snapchat (of course), etc. TikTok is currently going through a rough patch in some regions.

Other social media platforms are trying to capitalize on TikTok’s absence in these markets. On that same front, Snapchat has now introduced the Spotlight feature.

The Spotlight feature allows users to create a 60-second short-form video. For creators, 60 seconds is enough to do something creative and share with the world.

Notably, this feature is launched in 11 countries. This includes the U.S. and the U.K. and it has a dedicated tab in the Snapchat homescreen.

Well, that’s not it. Snapchat has said that it will split $1 million between the most popular creators on the Snapchat platform every day. It is done to encourage users to use this new feature regularly.

All the ‘Snaps’ created via this Spotlight feature can be decorated with filters and augmented reality effects.

Snapchat parent firm Snap Inc. stated in the official post the Spotlight feature is developed to entertain the community while giving the community’s values and well-being a top priority.

As Snapchat has already announced $1 million prize money for the most popular creator on the platform, it means the company has put in a good thought process behind this feature.

Moreover, you do not need to have a large fan following on the platform to earn the $1 million prize money. You need to make sure that your video is creative, entertaining, and gets viral.

Since Snapchat determines the popularity of the video via unique views, new eyes should view your video. If that is achieved, then you have an opportunity to earn money.

Note that the Spotlight would look different for everyone. Snapchat’s algorithm will show you content based on what you have been viewing on the platform. It also depends on how long you have been watching that content.
