OnePlus has been long slammed for not including always-on-display in its flagship phones. However, it broke the tradition and finally included the always-on-display with Android 11 OxygenOS 11.

But for some reason, the T-Mobile OnePlus 8T has been inexplicably missing an always-on-display feature running OxygenOS 11 based on Android 11.

This piece of information was shared by one of the T-Mobile OnePlus 8T users on Reddit. As per eagle-eyed Redditor u/konnesotan, the carrier variant of the OnePlus 8T did not come with always-on-display.

The always-on display is one of the key features that users want in their devices. Especially, if the phone spots an OLED or AMOLED panel as it does not impact the battery life but gives plenty of information just by a glance over the phone without the need of unlocking it.

While OnePlus phones are known to have gorgeous OLED displays with high resolution, an always-on display would look great. This is the reason users were asking for this feature for a long.

Fortunately, OnePlus, known for listening to its users, confirmed that Android 11 based OxygenOS 11 will bring AOD to the devices. But the T-Mobile carrier variant has been reported to be missing it.

T-Mobile told that the OnePlus 8T will get always-on-display in December

Folks at Android Police reached out to T-Mobile. And the positive thing that was said to them was T-Mobile will bring Always-On-Display to OnePlus 8T in December.

Not only one user, but several users have now started reporting the missing AOD feature on their T-Mobile OnePlus 8T. Users when went over to Settings to set up the Always-On-Display feature, it was not there.

The menu isn’t visible specifically for the T-Mobile variant of the OnePlus 8T. However, it is available on the regular unlocked models of the OnePlus 8T.

It is not clear whether T-Mobile launched its carrier variant of OnePlus 8T without this feature, or it was removed via an update. Notably, this is not the first time any feature is missing out from the T-Mobile OnePlus phone.

Apparently, the T-Mobile OnePlus 7 Pro was also missing out on the crucial DC Dimming feature for a few months. Though it was later added to the device via an update.

But this is alarming because such carrier steps that remove key features from their carrier variants, block users from using certain important features.

OnePlus should come out and react to this situation. And should have a word with T-Mobile about this tradition of taking out certain features from their devices.

Because ultimately it hampers the OEMs name in the smartphone market and in the minds of the users. Well, if you are also using the T-Mobile OnePlus 8T variant, then you have to probably wait for sometime before you can actually use AOD on your device.
