Samsung isn’t the fastest OEM when it comes to pushing the latest Android OS updates to its phones. However, the company has upped its after-sales software support greatly in recent years. It has already rolled out the stable Android 11 One UI 3.0 update to the Galaxy S20 series and is now preparing the same for the Galaxy Note 20 phones.

But, unfortunately, the Korean giant isn’t showing the same generosity towards the more affordable Galaxy S20 FE. The device will not receive Android 11 until February next year, Samsung has confirmed through an official One UI 3.0 roadmap published on the Samsung Members app in Germany.

That’s after the company is done seeding the latest iteration of Android OS to the Galaxy Note 20, Galaxy S10, Galaxy Note 10, and the Galaxy Z Flip phones. Even the Galaxy S10 Lite will get Android 11 ahead of the Galaxy S20 FE. All of these phones are scheduled to receive the update in January 2021.

Although the S20 FE is not quite a true-blue flagship offering from Samsung, it is a part of the Galaxy S20 lineup. Samsung could have shown some urgency with updating the phone to Android 11. At least not push it behind the phones that launched well over a year earlier than the S20 FE. In a hindsight, this is indicative of the fact that Samsung still has plenty to improve on in terms of its software update speed.

The Korean company recently promised to offer up to three generations of Android OS updates to its flagship phones and select mid-range Galaxy A phones. So unless it makes further improvements, things may get worse down the line.

Along with the Galaxy S20 FE, Samsung’s Android 11 roadmap also covers several other Galaxy smartphones and tablets. The original Galaxy Fold is listed to get the update in February next year, while the Galaxy Tab S7, Tab S7+, and the Galaxy Note 10 Lite may not get it until March.

The mid-range Galaxy A and Galaxy M phones will also start receiving Android 11 in March. The Galaxy A51 and Galaxy M31 will get the update first, followed by the Galaxy M21, Galaxy A71, and more. The roadmap runs until September and covers the Galaxy A50, Tab S6, Galaxy XCover Pro, and several other Galaxy devices.

Note that this is the official Android 11 One UI 3.0 update roadmap for Germany. The timeline for other regions may vary slightly. However, you still shouldn’t be expecting the Android 11 update to hit the Galaxy S20 FE anytime soon. You can check out the full One UI 3.0 roadmap below.
