HONOR MagicBook Pro is an ultrabook that delivers great design, and a lot of power under the hood

HONOR announced the global availability of two devices at CES 2021, and the HONOR MagicBook Pro is one of them. The HONOR MagicBook Pro is actually a really powerful ultrabook, and the receiver of one of our CES 2021 awards. Much like the other device HONOR announced, the HONOR Band 6, the HONOR MagicBook Pro has a lot to offer for the price tag. Speaking of which, this device will cost around $1,000 in global markets.

The HONOR MagicBook Pro was originally announced last year, in China, and many consumers have been waiting for its arrival to other markets. If you want a truly powerful laptop, and you’re unwilling to pay silly price tags, this may be the device for you. In the rest of the article, we’ll talk more about the device and what it has to offer, with a focus on its design and specifications. Before we begin, though, it is worth noting this is a Windows 10-based device.

Quality materials & sleek looks

The HONOR MagicBook Pro is made out of metal. Its top portion is very clean, the only thing you’ll notice there is HONOR’s logo. The device is also quite thin for a laptop, at 16.9mm. It’s not heavy either, quite the contrary, it weighs only 1.7kg. Do note that this is a 16-inch laptop, so it’s a full-fledged laptop in every way. The device comes in one color only, Mystic Silver, but luckily it looks really great in it. That color does show off its design prowess in a nice way, and it emphasizes metal build.

The bezels around its display are quite minimal. The thickest one is placed below the display, while others are extremely thin. You’ll also find a nice, chiclet keyboard here, and those keys feel really good, and do have some travel to them. The keyboard is backlit, and this is a full-sized keyboard, by the way. The device also comes with a pop-up camera for your video calls and other needs. On top of all that, the HONOR MagicBook Pro comes with a large ClickPad, which is HONOR’s name for the trackpad included on this table. A fingerprint scanner is also included, for added security.

There’s plenty of power under the hood

Let’s get technical, shall we. The first thing worth noting is this device’s processor. The HONOR MagicBook Pro is fueled by Intel’s 10th gen Core i5-10210U chip. Needless to say, that’s a very powerful processor. In this case, it’s paired with the NVIDIA GeForce MX350 graphics card. In case you’re wondering about the display, you’ll get the HONOR FullView Display here. It’s a 16.1-inch panel with fullHD (1920 x 1080) resolution, and a 16:9 aspect ratio. The screen-to-body ratio here is 90-percent, and the bezels are 4.9mm thick (top bezel, and those on the sides). This display also has the TÜV Rheinland Flicker-Free certification.

HONOR included 16GB of dual-channel DDR4 inside of this thing, along with 512GB PCIe NVMe SSD hard drive. The laptop also has dual fans and dual heat pipes, to make sure it won’t overheat no matter what you throw at it. Bluetooth 5.0 is included in the package, while the exact measurements of this laptop are 369 x 234 x 16.9mm.

Extremely fast charging & ports galore

Along with the HONOR MagicBook Pro, you’ll get a really fast charger. HONOR includes a 65W fast charger to charge up the device’s 56Wh battery. It will charge this laptop’s battery halfway in only 30 minutes, by the way. HONOR claims that you can get about 11.5 hours of fullHD video playback (local, not online) on a single battery charge, which is quite good. Speaking of which, that 65W charger, we’re looking at a Type-C power adapter.

Now, the HONOR MagicBook Pro also comes with quite a few ports, which is always a good thing. You’ll find a single HDMI port, with a single USB Type-C port. HONOR also included a 3.5mm headphone jack here, along with three USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A ports. YOu can never have enough USB ports, it seems, so this is nice to see.
