HONOR is no longer owned by Huawei, and thus it seems like Google services are coming back to its devices. This has been confirmed by the company’s CEO, George Zhao. He said that there’s no reason why HONOR couldn’t partner up with Google again.
Since splitting from Huawei, HONOR has partnered up with a ton of heavyweight players. Those companies include AMD, Intel, MediaTek, and Qualcomm… amongst others. Google is still missing, though.
HONOR is in talks with Google as we speak, Google services are coming back
Well, HONOR is currently in talks with Google, it seems. George Zhao confirmed as much in his interview with the South China Morning Post. Based on this information, we can expect a partnership to be announced soon.
As most of you know by now, Huawei has been hit with several bans from the US. That affected the company’s business in a number of ways. Not only can Huawei no longer use Google services, but it also prevents the company from selling its devices in the US.
On top of everything, it basically prevented Huawei from further developing and making its Kirin processors, which are actually really good. Those are just some ways the company has been affected.
Along with Huawei, such sanctions affected HONOR as well, as it was a part of Huawei at the time. Well, HONOR has been sold, and all ties with Huawei have been cut. Therefore, the company is free to lay out its own path now, and re-build a partnership with Google.
HONOR manufactures smartphones, and much more than that
HONOR is well-known for making compelling smartphones that don’t break the bank. Well, at least that was the case while it was under Huawei. It will be interesting to see what will come out of the company now that the connection is no longer there.
HONOR does not manufacture only smartphones. The company is also in the tablet business, and the same goes for smartphones and smart bands. HONOR even sells laptops, really good laptops, actually. So, we’ll keep a close eye on the company moving forward.
