Reportedly, HONOR is planning to launch a foldable smartphone segment later this year. Notably, this new foldable segment will be a part of the company’s Magic series of smartphones.
HONOR got separated from its parent company, Huawei back in 2020. This was done in order to curb the suffering that both the companies faced because of the trade war between the US and China.
Chinese company HONOR later announced that HONOR V40 will be launched under a different entity. Now, as per the latest tip from a Chinese tipster on Weibo (via Pocketnow), stated that HONOR is planning to launch a foldable phone under its Magic lineup this year.
The phone is expected to be a premium grade flagship smartphone from HONOR. Previously also, Zhao Ming, CEO of the company, mentioned that HONOR will launch a flagship series like the Huawei ‘Mate’ and ‘P’ series.
All this means that the HONOR foldable Magic lineup would be the first flagship premium series from the budget smartphone OEM. HONOR is trying to get back to the smartphone game and reports about resuming its business with Qualcomm, MediaTek, Google, have been surfacing on the internet.
HONOR may introduce an out folding phone, an in-folding device, and a clamshell
This new foldable smartphone lineup may introduce an out folding, in folding as well as a clamshell phone under the upcoming foldable Magic series.
There is no information on what type of display technology HONOR is planning to use. It is expected HONOR could use Samsung’s display. Other details regarding the price or availability are not known at the moment.
Along with HONOR, OPPO is also planning to launch a foldable and rollable phone in the market this year. The undisputed king in this segment, Samsung, will also release its next-gen foldable this year.
Reports are high that Samsung may launch a new Galaxy Z Flip Lite in late 2021. Moreover, Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3 are also in line to be released this year.
The year 2021 is already touted to be the year of innovative products, including foldable and rollable phones. So, it should be no surprise if you see more companies introducing a foldable or rollable phone this year.
Regarding HONOR’s foldable phone, we would advise our readers to take this piece of information with a pinch of salt. Because this is still an unconfirmed report.
