Samsung is taking privacy up a notch with the Galaxy S21 series, and is introducing a new “Private Share” feature.
With Private Share, Galaxy S21 users are able to control who gets access to the content that you send, as well as how long it is available for. So essentially, it’s a lot like Snapchat, but built into your smartphone.
Private Share works on more than just the Galaxy S21 series though. It will work on Galaxy Smartphones with Android 9 Pie or later. Though, you may need to download an app to use it, depending on how old your smartphone is. Unfortunately, it won’t work on non-Samsung Android phones.
This feature also has a tool that will protect your privacy, by safely removing location metadata from your photos and videos before sharing. That is a really big deal, considering the fact that companies like Google and Facebook already have so much information about us, stripping out that location metadata is definitely useful.
This is all part of the privacy and security features that Samsung continues to add to its smartphones. It’s part of the Samsung Knox suite of features. Which includes Knox Vault. That’s Samsung’s own proprietary chipset level security platform.
