A bunch of new smartphones is gaining support for Google Play Services for AR. Devices, including the recently launched Samsung Galaxy S21 lineup, Xiaomi Mi 10i, OnePlus Nord N10 5G, etc. are receiving AR apps support.

Recently, twelve Android smartphones received the Google AR app support. Now, a new update is available that extends the augmented reality SDK support to more phones.

To be specific, a total of 28 devices is now receiving AR SDK support. For the unaware, AR which stands for Augmented Reality allows users to do so many things by blending digital and physical worlds.

Users simply need to have an Android device that supports Google ARCore and use the camera on their phones to unlock a whole new world.

The AR SDK support allows users to sense the environment and interact with it using the smartphone’s camera. It basically makes use of three capabilities, i.e. Motion Tracking, Environmental understanding, and Light estimation.

ARCore can help your smartphone detect the various surfaces which later allows you to place objects, annotations, etc. in a way that integrates seamlessly with the real world. Notably, ARCore is designed to work on Android devices running Android 7.0 or above.
