When flagship smartphones get released, various different durability tests start popping up. Well, a rather odd one surfaced on YouTube, in this particular video, the Samsung Galaxy S21 spent over a week in a water tank.

At this point, the Galaxy S21 was in that water tank for over 12 days

To be clear, at the time of writing this article, the phone was still in that water tank, and the video was still live on YouTube. At that point, it was in that water tank for over 12 days, and it still functioned.

The video itself is embedded below the article, so you can check if it’s still live when you’re reading this. In the description of that video, you’ll find several updates as well, in a written form.

Some of you may wonder how is the phone still running after so long, it would have lost its battery charge a long time ago. Well, the phone is charging via a wireless charger, through the walls of the water tank.

Now, in terms of updates. After 99 hours, 59 minutes, and 59 seconds, the stopwatch on the phone reset itself. At that point, the phone had to be removed, so that the stopwatch could be reset. That had to be done twice up to this point.

The “Moisture detected” warning popped up at around 118 hours

The source also states that the ‘Moisture detected’ warning popped up after the phone was in the water for 117 hours and 53 minutes. The screen was unresponsive at that time, it kept jumping between apps uncontrollably. After some button pressing, the display started working again, though the moisture warning is still there.

The last update the source provided was at 241 hours and 10 minutes. He said that people were interested if the speakers are still working. Well, they do, but they sound terrible, says the source. They sound “very quiet and barely understandable”. That is not surprising at all, considering how long the phone was in the water.

It is a miracle the phone is still working after all this time in the water. The Galaxy S21 is IP68 rated, which means it can spend 30 minutes underwater (up to 1.5m), without being damaged. Well, this test really pushed its limits. The video is embedded below.
