YouTube TV has come with a new bundle that lets users save $5 for HBO Max, Showtime, and Starz subscriptions. The “Entertainment Plus” bundle is available today through YouTube TV Settings, Memberships.
It was in February 2020 that YouTube announced welcoming HBO on YouTube TV as a bundle. Now, it comes with Showtime and Starz within the Entertainment Plus bundle.
Individual subscriptions at HBO Max, Showtime, and Starz cost $35 per month – Showtime is $11, HBO Max $15, and Starz is $9 per month. The new YouTube TV bundle is available for $29.99, which is $5 less than an individual subscription for mentioned networks.
Maybe $5 is not a huge saving, but this bundle is for those who want to have their entertainment programs in one place. Also, YouTube TV has recently added a new package that includes 4K streaming and offline downloads.
Users who have individual subscriptions to these channels and plan to buy an Entertainment Plus bundle need to update their subscription. “If you are already subscribed to any of these channels individually, you must go to settings to update your subscription before purchasing Entertainment Plus,” Google noted.
YouTube TV has another bundle for sports enthusiasts called “Sports Plus” It includes NFL RedZone, Fox College Sports, GOLTV, Fox Soccer Plus, MAVTV Motorsports Network TVG, and Stadium. This bundle costs $10.99 per month, and users can opt for it alongside Entertainment Plus.
YouTube TV’s new bundle is good but still expensive
YouTube TV has always surprised its users with new subscription fees. The price usually soars after adding new channels and makes users pay more. In 2019, the price jumped to $49.99 per month, and again it increased to $64.99 last summer. At the latest update, YouTube added channels like BET, CMT, Comedy Central, MTV, Nickelodeon, Paramount Network, TV Land, and VH1.
The constant price increase has raised a question in the minds of YouTube TV users. Is it really worth it? This is a question that every user needs to ask before subscribing. Of course, YouTube TV has some features like unlimited cloud DVR and family sharing that help it stand out.
One of the biggest criticisms is that YouTube TV has over 80 available channels, and it is clear that a user never watches them all. Meanwhile, they have to pay for all channels, and it does not matter how many channels they watch. It’d be better Google could consider an option that allowed users to choose favorite channels and only pays for channels they watch.
