Several Samsung devices are picking up the One UI 3.1 update on Verizon. The Verizon-branded units of the entire Galaxy S20 and Galaxy Note 20 lineup, as well as the Galaxy Z Fold 2, are now receiving the latest version of Samsung’s custom Android skin.

The update is rolling out with the following software version numbers: G781VSQU2DUB8 for the Galaxy S20 FE, G981VSQU1DUB7 for Galaxy S20, G986USQU1DUB7 for Galaxy S20+, G988USQU1DUB7 for Galaxy S20 Ultra, N981USQU1DUB7 for Galaxy Note 20, N986USQU1DUB57 for Galaxy Note 20 Ultra, and F916USQU1DUB7 for the Galaxy Z Fold 2.

The One UI 3.1 update also bundles the February 2021 Android security patch for all seven Galaxy smartphones. Verizon is the first US wireless carrier to roll out this update to Samsung’s recent flagships. Expect the other two major carriers, i.e. AT&T and T-Mobile, to follow suit soon.

Verizon starts rolling out the One UI 3.1 update to Galaxy S20, Note 20, and Galaxy Z Fold 2

Samsung is the king of Android updates. Yes, it may not have been a true statement a couple of years ago, but the South Korean behemoth has now turned the tide on Android updates over the past two years. The No. 1 smartphone vendor in the world releases dozens of smartphone models every year. And it has done commendably well to roll out the Android 11 update to many of them by now.

Although Android 11 arrived with One UI 3.0 for most of Samsung’s smartphones, the company is now pushing One UI 3.1 to its recent flagship models. If you recall, the Galaxy S21 series debuted with One UI 3.1 in January. So this update essentially brings all those goodies that came with the Galaxy S21 phones to some older models.

Key highlights of One UI 3.1, which is still based on Android 11, include a slew of new camera features. Enhanced Single Take, Object Eraser, and Multi-Mic Recording are some notable additions. Stock apps such as DeX, Calendar, and Messages also get some enhancements.

Talking about messaging, Advanced Messaging or RCS (Rich Communications Services) is also a part of the package. You can now create text messages up to 8,000 characters long, send and receive read receipts, and share location as well as high-quality pictures and videos.

All of these features, and a lot more, are now coming to the Verizon versions of the Galaxy S20, S20 FE, S20+, S20 Ultra, Galaxy Note 20, Note 20 Ultra, and the Galaxy Z Fold 2. If you’re using any of these phones on Verizon, watch out for a new update in the coming days.
