HONOR has officially confirmed that the HONOR 50 and Magic series smartphones will not only support Google services, but ship with Qualcomm’s SoCs as well.

First and foremost, it is worth noting that HONOR Germany confirmed Google services are coming back. The confirmation came via Twitter, and those are some great news for Android users.

HONOR 50 & Magic series smartphone will use Google services

As most of you know, Huawei got banned from using Google services as part of the US ban. HONOR was a part of Huawei, but it no longer is. The company was sold by Huawei, and it seems like it has been granted the use of Google services once again.

Having said that, HONOR reached out to share more information about its new partnership with Qualcomm. HONOR said that it will be one of the first Android OEMs to use Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 778G processor.

That processor will be used in HONOR’s upcoming HONOR 50 series smartphone or smartphones. HONOR did refer to the HONOR 50 series as a “flagship product”, singular. That could mean the company will use this SoC in only one phone from the series, we’ll see.

Yes, the Snapdragon 778G is a mid-range SoC, but it’s quite a powerful processor. HONOR will use the Snapdragon 888 as well, that’s also something that the company confirmed.

The company will utilize the Snapdragon 888 as well

HONOR said that it will leverage “the most premium Qualcomm chipset”, which is the Snapdragon 888 at the moment. It also mentioned that it will be used in the HONOR Magic series smartphone(s).

The company did mention that we’ll find out more about this in June. HONOR may announce both the HONOR 50 and new Magic series smartphones next month, we’ll have to wait and see.

It is really nice to see that HONOR is coming back. The company was quite popular a while back, especially in Europe. The Huawei ban did affect HONOR as well, and the company did lose some pace, but it may regain what it lost in the future. HONOR had a lot to offer in the smartphone space, and it seems like it’s coming back with a punch.
