Asus has confirmed the launch of the Zenfone 8 on May 12. There are going to be three models for this year’s Asus Zenfone lineup, i.e. the Asus Zenfone 8, Zenfone 8 Pro, and Zenfone 8 Mini.

Cut to now, thanks to the new leak and teaser, we have some more juicy gossip on our hands. Notably, according to pictures posted by Gadget Tendency, we have our first look at the alleged Asus Zenfone 8 Mini.

The phone can be seen inside a transparent and opaque case. We assume these pictures come from a third-party case maker and not directly from Asus.

Taking a look at the pictures, the phone will have a diagonal size of 5.9-inches. Probably, the Asus Zenfone 8 Mini will be the smallest smartphone to pack in the Snapdragon 888 chipset.

The size of the phone seems to be close to the Apple iPhone 12. Although the images do not reveal much, you can see the Asus Zenfone 8 Mini in different positions and angles.

Asus Zenfone 8 Mini, as per the images, will have all the buttons, i.e. the volume rockers, and the power button on the right side of the phone.

Asus Zenfone 8 Mini is expected to pack a 4,000 mAh battery

Talking about some other specs of the phone, it is expected to house a 4,000 mAh battery. Moreover, the fingerprint scanner is placed at the front of the phone inside the display.

There is the standard headphone jack and a punch-hole display for the front camera. The Zenfone 8 Mini model will also be dust and water-resistant with an IP68 rating.

One surprising move by Asus this year is the removal of the rotating cameras. The reason behind this is unknown. So, you can no longer take advantage of the primary cameras at the back for taking selfies and front video recording.

Moving over to the official poster released by Asus, it gives us information about the release date of the phones. The tagline mentioned in the post reads, “Big on Performance. Compact in Size.”

The “compact” reference in the tag line obviously is for the Mini model. Moreover, there hasn’t been much information about the Pro or the standard models.

For more information on those, we will have to wait for the official announcement and launch event. Thanks to the pandemic, Asus will reveal this year’s flagship models via an online event. The show will go live on May 12 at 10 am PT / 1 pm ET.
