It seems like HONOR is planning to launch its first foldable smartphone in August. This information comes from a tipster called ‘Teme’. He shared an old HONOR Magic 2 image on Twitter, and simply wrote ‘August’ in the caption.
The very first foldable smartphone from HONOR is expected to launch in August
This clearly suggests that a new HONOR Magic smartphone will make an appearance in August. Now, HONOR has been working on a foldable smartphone for a while now, and we know that it is planning to launch it this year.
It was said, a while back, that the company’s foldable smartphone will launch under the ‘Magic’ brand. So, if we connect the dots here, this will almost certainly be the company’s first foldable smartphone.
The HONOR Magic 2, which launched back in 2018, features a slide-out camera. Well, this Magic device will be considerably different. It remains to be seen if it will be called the ‘Magic 3’, or will HONOR change up its name completely. Perhaps to the ‘Magic Fold’ or something of the sort?
Chances are it will include a flagship SoC
The company’s first foldable smartphone could feature high-end specs. HONOR announced its HONOR 50 series smartphones yesterday, and interestingly enough, not a single one of them has a flagship SoC.
That was a bit surprising, to be quite honest. It would be odd not to see an HONOR smartphone with a flagship SoC this year. This brings us to this upcoming ‘Magic’ smartphone. HONOR will probably reach for a flagship processor here.
We don’t have any details regarding the phone thus far, other than the fact it’ll probably be foldable. Chances are HONOR will use metal and glass to make this phone, though.
The device will support Google services, in case you’re wondering. HONOR is no longer owned by Huawei, and is allowed to use Google services. The HONOR 50 series will also include them, well, the global models of those phones will. More info regarding the upcoming ‘Magic’ smartphone will probably surface soon, so stay tuned for that.
