Flexispot Comhar EG8 is an all-in-one standing desk to help you get a bit more circulation to your legs during the Covid-19 pandemic. Pre-pandemic we all got up and moved around the workplace – coffee break, walk to meeting rooms, take a walk to the cafeteria, etc. But for the last 15 months or so it’s been the exact opposite while working from home. One solution is to get a desk that can help you stand while working. This is where the new Flexispot Comhar EG8 comes in.

Most motorized desks are quite expensive. This is where Flexispot Comhar E8 makes a big splash by offering a fully adjustable motorized desk for $429. For that you get built-in storage, 3 USB fast charging ports, 4 memory presets, a built-in height indicator, and a stylish-looking tempered glass top. Let’s get to the full review of this desk to see if this desk is as good in practice as it seems on paper.

Assembly and Setup is quick and easy

The Flexispot Comhar E8 desk ships in one large box. Just be aware that the box is quite large and heavy. Inside the box, there is quite a bit of cardboard and foam to help protect the desk during transit.

The top is already assembled with the frame, motor, and wiring. The legs attach to the top via 4 hex nuts, two on each leg. The bottom of the legs then attaches to the feet via slightly different 4 hex nuts. The two types of hex nuts are segregated by size and color and a tool for assembly is included in the box. My review unit is black in color but there is a white color version available from Flexispot as well.

Start to finish once the contents are out of the box it took perhaps less than 10 minutes for assembly. Once the power cord was plugged in I was able to move the desk up and down without any hassles. One thing I will give Flexispot top marks for is the extremely tight tolerancing of the parts, the hex nuts take absolutely no effort to align and install which usually is not the case with assembling most furniture items. In addition, the overall fit and finish look absolutely top-notch from an appearance and quality viewpoint.

Using the Flexispot Comhar EG8 on a daily basis

Typically I get tech gadgets for review like smartphones, earbuds, fitness wearables, and such. So when Flexispot offered the Comhar E8 for review I jumped at the chance for trying out something totally different.

Basic operation is quite simple and easy. You press the Up or Down buttons to raise or lower the table height. When the tabletop is at the lowest setting the display shows ‘bot’ and at the highest setting, it shows ‘top’ – simple and intuitive. The lowest setting equates to about 28.3-inch height and the highest setting is roughly 47.5 inches above the floor. Long pressing the buttons 1 through 4, lets you program the height and you can quickly get to a preset height by pressing one of these buttons. Then there are three fast-charging USB ports next to the memory preset buttons. One of them is a USB-C port which supports more modern USB-C to USB-C cables. The last button displays the height of the tabletop.

The built-in storage drawer comes in handy to store pens, keys, wallet, smartphone, tablet, charging cables, and other small office items. I use the charging ports to charge my smartphone, wireless earbuds pretty much on a daily basis. Before the Flexispot desk I had to resort to using a charging hub and now I pretty much just use the charging ports on the desk.

Few things to note since this is a glass top surface. Might want to keep paper clips or sharp metal objects in the storage tray lest you scratch this top inadvertently. Also if you use an optical mouse then you will need a mouse pad for it to work properly.

One final thing to note is that there is a collision detection system to keep anyone from being hurt if they happen to be underneath the table while it is moving downwards which is a good thing.

Likes and Dislikes after using the Flexispot all-in-one desk for a few weeks

I think there are far more positives than negatives to this desk. First is the height indicator which allows you to set the desk at the correct ergonomic height. Next up is the memory preset which perhaps enables presets for multiple members of a household if the desk is going to be used on a shared basis.

My next two favorite features are the fast charging ports and the built-in storage tray. Both are well thought out and extremely useful features to have in a work desk in the modern connected gadget era. One other thing that I like is the relatively quiet motor for lowering or raising the height.

In my opinion, the size of the table and the storage tray are in the neutral category. Some folks may find the table a bit small but for me, with a dual monitor setup with a docking station, it still leaves room for charging my gadgets and a designated area for files.

Let’s talk about some things that can use some improvement. At the ‘top’ height setting there is a definite shudder/wobble so really tall people that want to get this desk and work long hours in stand mode might find this inconvenient. I did not have this issue at the standing height setting though. One other thing to note is that there is a slight travel up or down. This happens even after you have taken your finger off the up or down movement buttons.

One thing to note is that there is no cable management solution for your computer, monitors, etc. on the rear side of the desk. So if you plan to use it in an open area you may need to invest in a cable runner. In my use case, the table is against a wall so cable management is a non-issue for me.

But my biggest pet peeve is that the glass top collects smudges just like any smartphone screen! And the black color absolutely doesn’t help. I find myself frequently cleaning the glass tabletop with Windex every couple of days. I do believe that this issue is somewhat less in the white color version of this desk.

Overall, the Flexispot ComharE8 all-in-one desk is quite impressive. It offers a lot of useful features at an extremely attractive price. Not to mention that Flexispot includes a fairly robust 5-year warranty with the desk. Overall fit and finish are excellent and you get a really premium quality desk for an affordable price. I have been using this desk for over two months now. For people who are looking to get a height-adjustable sit/stand work desk, Comhar E8 is a no-brainer.
