Google Camera’s latest update may enable you to take Astrophotography time-lapses. June Pixel Feature Drop just around the corner. A code in the Pixel Tips app suggests Google Camera’s astrophotography may soon be able to offer time-lapse video.

On June 3, 9to5Google shared an APK Insight post about decompiling the latest version of an app that Google uploaded to the Play Store. By decompiling these files, the publication finds various lines of code within that hint at future features.

It is unclear whether these features may even see the light of the day. The site tried to enable features that are nearly finished. The recently spotted Google’s Pixel Tips app upgrade hint at a new feature for the Pixel camera app.

Google began to regularly roll out new software features. after launching the Pixel 4 series in 2018. This was called “Pixel Feature Drop.”

On Tuesday, Google released update version 3.4.0.373287606 to the Pixel Tips app. This is a common procedure ahead of a quarterly Feature Drop for Pixel phones.

A considerable number of the new tips are still not live in the app after the update. However, 9To5Google’s Dylan Roussel tracked down code for a new tip about Google Camera.

The notable aspect here is “Astrotimelapse,” which hints at the ability to capture a time-lapse video coupled with the Pixel’s awe-inspiring astrophotography capabilities. According to the site, this could enable users to record the movement of the stars in the sky.

It is worth noting that the Pixel Tips app will check if you are using Google Camera app version 8.2.3 before it shows details about Astrotimelapse. The latest version of the Google Camera is 8.2.2, so an update may be coming soon. The update isn’t confirmed as part of the June Feature Drop.

Google Photos will receive a new feature

During the recently concluded Google I/O, the company said that Google Photos will be receiving a new feature called Locked folder. This feature will be initially exclusive to Pixels.

The Google Photos Locked Folder feature will allow you to keep certain photos hidden from your smartphone’s gallery. The same Pixel Tips update included hints of a tip about the Google Photos locked folder.
