After nearly a year, NBCUniversal and Amazon have come to an agreement which will bring Peacock onto Fire TV and Tablets starting today.
According to NBCUniversal’s president of Business Developments and Partnerships, Maggie McLean, “we aim to make Peacock as widely available as possible, so we’re excited to bring the service to millions more people who stream on Fire TV and Fire tablets. Amazon customers will find amazing content to stream this summer on Peacock from the Tokyo Olympics to The Boss Baby: Family Business.”
Peacock landing on Fire TV means that the service is now on all of the major streaming platforms. Making it easier for just about everyone to sign up for and use Peacock. Which is quietly one of the best streaming services out there. Since it is literally free, or for $5 per month, you can unlock all of its content including WWE and its PPVs. Which in itself makes it a big deal.
Peacock coming to Fire TV isn’t the only announcement here
In addition to Peacock coming to Amazon’s platforms, NBCUniversal has also reached a deal with Amazon for distribution agreements fo its network apps.
This means that 15 of NBCUniversal’s network apps will now be available on Fire TV and Fire Tablets. That includes NBC, Bravo, NBC News, NBC Sports, Telemundo and many more.
That is also a pretty big deal for Amazon Fire TV and Tablets users, as they will be able to watch content from these TV Anywhere apps. Even if they don’t want to subscribe to Peacock, and have streaming TV from AT&T, Comcast, Verizon, or even YouTube TV.
You’ll be able to find Peacock as well as these other NBCUniversal apps in Amazon’s app store starting today. You can download them and get started using them right away, there’s no software update required here.
