After being announced in May, ASUS has finally brought the Zenfone 8 to the US. And it’ll start at $629.

That is a very respectable price for a smartphone in 2021. Considering most are closer to $1,000 and this is still a flagship device.

ASUS is actually selling two models of the Zenfone 8. The entry-model has 128GB of storage and 8GB of RAM for $629 (it’s currently on sale for $599 until July 13). And the other model is 256GB of storage and 8GB of RAM and $699.

The Zenfone 8 is a small, but very capable Android smartphone

One of the things we loved about the Zenfone 8 when we reviewed it last month, was the fact that it is small, without sacrificing specs. It has a 5.9-inch FHD+ display, which is AMOLED and 120Hz. It is also powered by the Snapdragon 888 5G chipset, along with 8GB of RAM and 128GB or 256GB of storage in the US. There’s no micro SD card slot here though.

It also has a dual-camera setup on the back. With a 64-megapixel main sensor at f/1.8 aperture. And then a secondary sensor that is 12-megapixels at f/2.2 aperture that serves as the ultrawide sensor. The front has a 12-megapixel sensor as well for those selfies.

And this is all powered by a 4000mAh capacity battery. Don’t ask us how ASUS was able to fit a 4,000mAh capacity battery inside such a small body, but they did it.

The Zenfone 8 isn’t as crazy as the ROG Phone 5, but it will get the job done. And can still play games quite well.

You can purchase the Zenfone 8 from ASUS’ website now. Keep in mind that the 128GB model is on sale for $599 for a limited time. It’s unclear if ASUS will make the Zenfone 8 available on Amazon or other retailers in the future. For now it’s their website only.
