Some new Samsung Galaxy S22 display information surfaced in Korea. This information comes from Naver. It says that the Galaxy S22 Ultra will retain the display size its predecessor offered. In other words, you can expect a 6.8-inch panel to be included.
The Galaxy S22 series display info appears, don’t expect a UDC camera
When it comes to the Galaxy S22 and S22+, the report says “The size difference between the base model and the plus model is reduced” (rough translation). Some publications reported that this means the Galaxy S22 and S22+ will have smaller displays, but it doesn’t seem like that’s what Naver meant.
Based on this translation, this means that the display size difference between the two phones will be smaller, not necessarily that their displays will be smaller. It’s, of course, possible that Google Translate didn’t do a good job here, but that’s what the translated content says. Also, don’t expect an under display camera (UDC) on either S22 handset.
The source also said that an Exynos SoC with AMD GPU probably won’t be used in Korea. That’s a report that we’ve already heard recently. Samsung will include that chip in some regions, but Korea won’t be one of them, it seems.
Samsung will use two SoCs once again
Samsung will likely use Qualcomm’s next-gen Snapdragon processor for its homeland. That chip could be called the Snapdragon 895, but Qualcomm still didn’t confirm anything. The company could go for the Snapdragon 898 name instead.
The Galaxy S22 series is expected to arrive in January next year. A recent report said that the company’s plans are on track, and that a January launch is quite possible for the Galaxy S22 series.
As most of you know, the Galaxy S21 series arrived in January this year, but most of the previous Galaxy S flagships were launched in the second half of February. It seems like Samsung is planning to stick to its new release cycle, though.
